Both anime are pretty much glorified animated commercials for car companies.  They both are made up of short episodes.  Both have bright and colorful animation.  PES: Peace Eco Smile features aliens, while Houkago no Pleiades is mostly about magical girls (though it does have an alien character as well).  Still, I think that if you like one you will probably like the other.

Both are silly car commercials that are bright, colourful, and fast. LIKE CARS! VROOOOM! Check em out if you like commercials that are completely different from the norm.

If you're in the mood for a magical girl title and the plotless, too-short Pleiades left you wanting more, check out the far superior, darker and overall better Nanoha.

Mahou Shoujo Tai Arusu

Alice is a preteen girl who believes in magic, much to the dismay of her parents and peers. But when she finds herself transported into a dreamlike world filled with magic, forest sprites, and witches, she finds out that magic is sometimes not all it’s cracked up to be. The witches of this world must capture forest sprites for use in casting their spells, and magical hierarchy dictates that those at the bottom must compete to get to the top. Dream or not, Alice must use her positive attitude to show these witches that magic should be used to spread happiness, first and foremost!

If you enjoyed the cameradery of the girls in Pleiades but want something more whimsical and interesting, check out Tweeny Witches. Sure, it's witches and not magical girls, but it's far better of a ride.
