Simply put if you like an anime that ties up the loose end of their first series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai and Code Geass R2 are prefect. Picking up on a seemingly unrelated incident leaves the audience wondering what the hell happened. But as the stories progress it become clear that -if enough thought is consider- it becomes almost scarily well thought and developed. And you come to realise minute thing that the first season showed played a large part in the outcome, what is the outcome? you'll just have to find out...

Clannad After Story

Clannad After Story

Summer break is now over; the second semester has started for Tomoya, Nagisa and the others, and little has changed. Since Tomoya's relationship with his father is still troubled, he continues to live with Nagisa and her family, even if it means getting roped into organizing a baseball team for the family bakery. Life at school continues as normal with Sunohara as carefree as ever; however, when his sister Mei voices her concerns about him, the series of events that follow place a strain on Sunohara and Tomoya’s friendship. Whether it's saving a person from themselves or passing on a message from the past, one thing’s for sure: no matter how tough things get, good friends will always be there to help out.

Want a mystery that will leave you shocked and confused... Both these anime have a MindF*ckish element to them, making it hard to predict what will happen in the animes. Paranoia Agent however, is short and is as much as a thriller as Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai but both are very good and deserve mentioning

Berserk

Berserk

If you like gore...and I mean gore...you will love both shows.

If you like good character devlopment...and I mean good...you will like both shows.

Both shows have an interesting plot. I especially like this arc of Higurashi, and Berserk doesn't stray to far from the manga (which is revered as being one of the greatest manga known to man). They also are somewhat emotional shows. The drastic ending of Berserk is often cited as being "deep", and many scenes of this Higurashi arc are pretty sad. Recommended 16+ for intense gore.

GANTZ

GANTZ

Much to the annoyance of Kei, he and his childhood friend Katou have died, having been torn apart by a train. But rather than finding themselves at the gates of heaven, the duo materialize in a room full of strangers and a giant black sphere known as GANTZ. As if dying once wasn’t bad enough, the occupants of the room are then forced to embark on dangerous missions to kill strange aliens; missions that very few return from. Now, Kei, Katou, and a well-endowed friend must fight for their freedom with an arsenal of guns, high powered suits, and a very low chance of survival.

Both of these animes have quite high doses of horror and gore in them (though more Gantz than Higurashi Kai) However they also both focus more on the intellectual and psychological aspects of things like murder and death, messing with your mind more than plain horror titles.
