Both Highlander and Ninja Scroll are from the veteran theatrical director Yoshiaki Kawajiri. They have classic animation at its finest! Both movies also boast plenty of sex and violence (Kawajiri's specialty) and a great plot.

Both Highlander and Ninja Scroll share blood, lost-loves, and stories of revenge. Both are created and directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and Studio Madhouse, and have the same style of animation. Also they both kick ass, so watch them.

Though the setting is different the story is extreamly similar and so are the characters. Both movies were made by Madhouse and both have the same style of animation. On top of that they both have lots of gore and some adult themes. If you liked one of those, you'll love the other ona as well.

VHD: B and Highlander are magnificently drawn, with a sense of realism and depth that few others attain. Filled with breathtaking scenery, the anime explore the loneliness of immortality and the obsession of revenge. The main protagonists are battle-hardened warriors that fight with their enemies and inner demons alike. If you have seen only one of them, then you are at a loss, for they are both masterpieces.

If you finished watching Highlander and you want more of the same style, you should watch Bloodlust. It has a different setting and vampires, but its still pretty much the same stuff.

Dagon123 Dagon123 says...

Both Highlander and Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust are phenomenal films that parallel each other extremely well. Set in a post-apocalyptic setting a lone warrior, fights to finish what he started (D and his bounty, Collin and his revenge). Both are high budget films by Madhouse that are more then strikingly similar, in both plot and characters if you've seen one, then you have to see the other

Wicked City and Highlander are science fiction at its best. Yoshiaki Kawajiri creates yet another two classics. Sex and violence are on the menu in both these movies, and they have great storylines.

If you like anime with a lot of gore and action then these two movies are for you. They both have simple stories that get more convoluted as they go along. However, the story is just an excuse for actions scenes with various villains. The fights and animation on both are decent. Both movies will satisfy action junkies, even if there isn't much depth to the plots.

If you want a movie that resembles each other in that the lead male protagonist acts a total asshat to those around him so he can better protect them look no further than here. Munsu and MacLeod each have to be bastards to the people in their lives so they can carry out acts of vengeance and bring their own sense of societal moral justice to the lead antogonists in the movies. MacLeod has Octavius and Munsu has,... well whoever currently gets in his way(at last count 2 leaders and 1 army of goblins).

Both series main characters are very similar. Gruff and cranky strong men doing what they beileve is right. Munsu more so runs into trouble while Colin goes looking for it to get his revenge. If you enjoyed one you'll surely enjoy the other.

This might seem like an odd recommendation, but hear me out. Though Karas and Highlander are nothing alike in plot (or even animation), I had the same feeling after seeing each of these: "WOW, THAT WAS PURE AWESOME!!" Not just awesome, folks... pure awesome. From the outstanding animation, kickass action sequences and cinematic feel, both Karas and Highlander are fantastic choices for a flat out cool movie, and fit very well together for a recommendation.

So if you thought one was out-of-this-world entertaining, you'd definitely like the other.
