If futuristic sci fi movies are your thing, Toward the Terra and Hi no Tori 2772 aim to please. I enjoyed HnT quite a bit more, but both have a very similar feel and style that you'll appreciate.

Old School sci-fi here. Toward the Terra is full of an ancient aura typical of all the anime of that time; it's the best companion for Hi No Tori 2772.

I know what you are thinking... you think I recommended this because both were done by Tezuka, right? Wrong! While the artwork admittedly is the same, the sci fi feel (with the concept of robots being close to human) is VERY VERY similar, and I just know you'd like one if you liked the other.

Both are 80's anime that are based on the works of Osamu Tezuka.  While they have different plots, they are both sci-fi and they both have a similar vibe.  I think Hi no Tori 2772 is the better of the two, but if you like one you will probably like the other.
