The timid, virginal Kouta is a new student at Kunpo High School; and while others in his situation might be a wallflower forever, Kouta has no such luck – he has attracted the attention of the busty Chizuru, who happens to be a fox deity! However, Kouta’s misfortunes don’t stop there; he’s also pursued by Nozomu, a wolf deity. Between being molested, propositioned, having his face shoved between mammoth breasts or witnessing endless panty shots, Kouta must also attempt to maintain his studies – even though all Chizuru and Nozomu want is to be the one to deflower him first!
Both of these ecchi Xebec titles comprise of a love-struck female deity who suddenly interferes with the protagonist's life by dragging him into supernatural phenomenon and making frequent “advances” on the poor guy, much to his distress. Secondly, I’m always reminded of Chizuru (Kanokon protagonist) when Nyaruko (Haiyore! protagonist) smiles grandly, and Nozomu (Kanokon) too who looks like a shorthaired emotionless version of Nyaruko but acts like Cthuko (Haiyore!), which is due to the sharing of similar character designs.
Ten years ago, Senpeita Kobayashi fell in love with the girl of his dreams; she left his life, but promised that in ten years she’d see him again and become his bride. Fast forward to the present, and Senpeita is a typical student attending Akebono Academy. That is, until the wide-eyed tiny robot Kemeko crash lands in his bedroom and proclaims herself to be Senpeita’s new bride! As if things aren’t strange enough, Senpeita soon discovers that inside Kemeko is a beautiful girl – a girl who has an uncanny resemblance to his lost love! All Senpeita wants is to be a normal boy, but now he must keep himself out of the way of flying fists, raging jealousies, and battles between Kemeko and Mishina – a global corporation that has a vested and dangerous interest in Senpeita!
Both feature the "I just want to be left alone" male characters who have their lives interrupted by girls with special powers who come to protect them. They both have similar jokes and random humor inserted into every day situations. Haiyore! Nyaruko-san seems to be the better of the two, but if you like it, you'll probably like this too.
In present day Japan, the life of a school girl is never dull. The easily-bored Konata never finds time to study because of her otaku habits, which frustrates hard-working Kagami to no end. On the other hand, laid-back Tsukasa always manages to go with the flow, while Miyuki is concerned with keeping her status as resident know-it-all. Join these four girls as they muse and meander their way through everyday events such as eating chocolate cones, doing homework, gaming, and trips to the beach galore.
Both are comedy anime with a heavy dose of nerdy references to anime, games and (in Nyarko-san's case) literature. Both are much better if you've watched a whole lot of anime, in order to appreciate these references, and if you enjoyed one you may certainly enjoy the other.
Takurou Mikoujima is an avid fisherman who loves nothing more than to sit alone on the pier and cast his line, enjoying the peace and relaxation that follows. But the boy’s pleasant, angling days soon come to an end when he gets an unexpected catch: a fat-tailed mermaid named Muromi whose very presence is anything but soothing! She’s nosy, rash and prone to violent outbursts; and what’s worse, she has friends! Whether the boy is harassed by the forgetful Harpy, the cheerful dolphin-lover Hii-can, the busty Fuji or the rest of Muromi’s wacky companions, one thing’s for sure: Takurou’s quiet days at the beach have come to an end!
At the core, these two series are exactly the same: a comedy about a normal boy who suddenly has his life changed after meeting an extremely hyperactive non-human girl and her group of friends. Muromi stars a lot of mythological creature and Nyarlko has aliens and beings from Lovecraft lore, all cracking a continuous stream of fourth-wall breaking jokes for your amusement... and the poor guy confusion.
I'm pretty sure these shows are great for anyone who needs a good laugh, so give them a try.
The anime and cosplay-loving Sakura Nankyoku – known by her peers as Penguin at her old school – has just moved to a new location. After suddenly becoming student council president, she finds herself in the middle of many bizarre and ecchi situations. Panties fly, transformations are plentiful and the day is never dull in the life of Sakura, her third-grade sister Kaede, her tomboy rival Kujira, Cha Chi from China (who wants nothing more than to be Kujira's "boyfriend"), and more!
Nyarko is basically Penguin Musume with CTHULHU mythos. Both are heavily comedic and nonsensical, a lot characters behave similarly (we have the hyper otaku mc, the jealous girl who chases after another girl, the trap, the voice of reason etc.), both do have a shade of ecchi, but most importantly both are filled to the brim with shout-outs to anime, games and japanese trends.
Only difference is that Nyarko has aliens, but given how unrealistic the settings are, it doesn't really matter. So if you're looking for a weird and hilarious trip full of references, look no further.
