Gankutsuou and Gungrave have a strong plot about friendship and betrayal. Both keep things serious and don't offer a lot of action or comedy. I definitely feel that these appeal to the same audience.

Both have a very strong plot and a very skilled assassin as the main character. It is hard not to link these two anime. Gungrave has a bit more character development though and a different drawing style.

Both Death Note and Gungrave have a gloomy dark atmosphere, well-developed characters and an even better story. Gungrave has a bit more action though, whereas Death Note sticks to developing its story more.

Gungrave and s-CRY-ed are both very action-packed. If you like violence and liked Gungrave, I strongly recommend watching s-CRY-ed. They both have a very similar concept: the main characters become enemies, but then team up for a cause.

If you are looking for another anime that will make you shed tears, then try this one.

Notice that neither of this to show will give you "easy" tear; instead you will be moved by an earnest narration, without abused and easy tricks to make you cry (and that usually give me opposite results).
