The Holy Grail War is a battle between seven magicians who each summon a mythical hero to fight for their cause. Shirou, a twice orphaned high school boy, had so little magical talent that his foster father did not bother teaching him about the war and its meaning. Thanks to that lack of foresight, Shirou finds himself in a bit of a pinch when he accidentally summons a hero of the strongest class, and is sucked into the fray. The Grail grants the winner any wish they have. But driven by an unyielding sense of justice and self-sacrifice, for what will Shirou fight?
Shirou and Shu start off as regular high school students assuming their daily life until one they recent event struck them that would change their lives forever getting accompanied by a girl who acts as their ally. Shirou and Shu gain powers that can take form of anything it wants and improves it throughout the story. The story gets simple early but gets twisty and complex later on as the mysterious third party awaits them.........
Both very similar. Weakish male lead. Slightly stronger female lead. Similar endings...................
Japan has reclaimed its former glory under the guidance of Kings, charismatic individuals wielding incredible powers. But now, one of the Red King's vassals has been murdered, and a viral video shows the killer's confession at the scene. He is one Yashiro Isana, claiming to be the Colorless King; and he is now a wanted man - not only to the Red King's faction, but also the Blues charged with keeping the peace. He is even sought by Kuroh Yatogami, a knight of the former Colorless King sworn to slay any unworthy successor. Only, the subject of their struggle, "Shiro", is a nondescript young man living an unremarkable life in an island academy, and seems to have no recollection of killing anyone. To keep his life, Shiro must prove his innocence; but what is the truth behind his mysterious past, and what will be the outcome of this confrontation of Kings?
Through the unique plot and character design of K I think that Guilty Crown would be a good fit. Guilty Crown not also goes into the military side of things but also has an interesting mystery that lingers until closer to the end of the series. The art work in Guilty Crown is superb, but in my opinion I still like the colors in K more. Guilty Crown is filled with just as much- if not more- action as K and a different but equally as cool way of fighting.
Modern day societies where clans and groups are fighting each other. They also include identity crisis' of characters, so it's both watching interesting storylines as well as figuring out what the heck is actually going on.
After a catastrophic epidemic kills every adult on earth, vampires arise from the shadows to enslave the remaining human population. Yuichiro and his friends are kept as vampire fodder in a creepy underground city. Yuichiro dreams of one day fighting back, and the first step is staging a daring escape from their vampire overlords...
There are some really striking similarities between Guilty Crown and Owari no Seraph. They share: a backstory involving a widespread virus which kills a bunch of people and plunges the world into a post-apocalyptic state, fantastic weapons, resistance forces and decisions to be made about loyalty, and a school setting thrown into the mix. If you liked GC, I'm pretty sure you'll also like Owari no Seraph. People tend to love or hate Guilty Crown, but I'd say it's definitely worth a try if you enjoyed Owari no Seraph.
Like said by snivets; the backstory is very alike. I also feel like the way of fighting can be compared.
After being threatened by extinction at the hands of alien invaders called the Zentradi, humanity undertook the task of guaranteeing itself a future by launching fleets of colony ships into space. On Macross Frontier, one such fleet, high school student Saotome Alto's life is changed forever: the fleet is suddenly attacked by unidentified creatures while he is performing aerial stunts for a concert by the wildly popular idol Sheryl. Alto quickly finds himself in the cockpit of a new-model fighter struggling to protect Ranka Lee, a young girl he met only hours earlier, from the invaders' swath of destruction. Noting his performance during this incident, the S.M.S. Skull Squadron private military company invites Alto to join their organization, where he continues protecting his friends and Macross Frontier.
Following a violent incident in his childhood, Alma Tandoji has been left an outcast at school and wants nothing more than to be quietly left alone. But one day Alma's solitary peace is shattered when a strange monster known as a Dark Stone attacks his hometown. Suddenly the boy finds himself thrust into the struggle between this strange creature and the ones fighting it: the Aiba Foundation and it's leader, the wealthy Ruri. Though reluctant to fight at first, amidst the battle, Alma learns that he possesses a power known as Sacred Seven that is linked to not only these mysterious creatures but also his forgotten past. Now, along with the help of Ruri and her bestpectacled butler Makoto, Alma must take up the mantle of protector to save the world from this new threat.
Jaded boy meets girl who unleashes his hidden powers, flashy action scenes follow sprinkled with a lot fanservice (more obvious in GC). It has been done to death and here it is again, perfectly calibrated to meet all the criteria of the genre.
