Im basing this on the first episode of Guilty Crown, which was nearly identical to the first episde of code geass:

Boy meets mysterious girl. Girl gives mysterious crazy superpower. Boy owns.

Both series also center around a rebellion, and both are futuristic (in that they have mechas). They both also have a fairly dark feel to them as well, though Code Geass (so far) slightly less so.

Guilty crown takes after Code Geass so much, the plot is similar, the nightmares/crafts are identitcal, the first episode as well. The style is dark and rebelly. I like the style GC more, but Code Geass si older and so mure original

Code Geass and Guilty Crown are similar on many different levels. first off total domination of the ruling government, and a group fighting against said superpower. A person reciving a strange power, while slowly figuring out the 'specs' for them. the use of mechs, and their looks. Lastly the way the episode's cliffhangers leave off are the same style entirely, just leaving you wondering how the character will worm his way out of his current prediciment.

What sets them apart is, in Code Geass, the protaganist is out for revenge and is all too eager to jump on the chance to kill his nemises. While in Guilty Crown, the protaganist is dragged unwillingly into a fight he could care less about.

If you enjoyed one you should give the other a shot.

Whatching guilty crown just made me think about code geass. There are sertain similaities, but the main part for me was the feel of the series, and they much align. One thing though, Lelouch is, in all ways, awesome. The main at guilty cross is not so much, but I see room for more character developement, and he's starting to show that he can when he wants to.

Well, I saw TONS of similarities in Code Geass and Guilty Crown. Like, all the characters were basically the same (although I must say I personally like Guilty Crown's design more...). It's like rewatching Code Geass with a somewhat different plot! =) Not saying that's a good or bad thing cuz that's up to you but I'll name a few other similarities.

They're both set in the near future. There's mecha. A girl appears and a boy is given a superpower and he just becomes badass. (although I personally think Shu is more "realistic" in his character development) There are a few suggestive scenes. (not many though~) They're both about rebellions and you mainly see things from the rebellions' point of view. 

I also personally think Code Geass is WAAAY more complex than Guilty Crown (which is somewhat predictable sometimes...), but if you couldn't get enough of Code Geass, watching Guilty Crown just might subdue that urge for a bit of time. =)

Mechas, totalitarian country, a guy with a power that was given by a sexy girl, even the name CG-GC - yeah, it seems similar, but only at the beginning...

Having seen over 200 animes, Guilty Crown is the biggest disappointment for me. Being a huge fan of both Code Geass and supercell, I expected GC to be very good. Unfortunately, the plot is so simple and shallow that I'd name it one of the worst animes I've ever seen. Unless you're a hardcore supercell fan, watch Code Geass, not Guilty Crown.

Both Code Geass and Guilty Crown have similar elements in their shows, but their main characters couldn't be more different. While Lelouch is a cold and calculating person struggling with emotion at times, Shu, in Guilty Crown, is overcome with emotion at points desiring to be more calculating and charismatic. 

Sure, both shows have some sort of robots, powers, and stories of Japan struggling from external powers. Yet, each are their own unique story. Both are due their respect- if you like one, I suspect you will enjoy the other.

In many ways these two animes are dot-on similar. While Shu doesn't grow nearly as diabolical as Lelouch until the end of the series, in both animes you'll find the same futuristic themed action and loveable characters.

Both animes have great soundtracks as well.

in both anime a normal school kid found itself in an unfortunate situation where  they acquire new powers, but thos powers can also be misused. in code geass the kid is more involve into the military whereas in guilty crown it is more about a disease and the resurrection of a fearsome enemy.

Both shows are political where an individual meets a girl and ends up with a power to affect the world they live in. Each of the two have mecha that play a part, but are not the focus of the show.

if you liked code geass, then trying watching guilty crown. they both use mecha, and other high techi gadgets in the series. although guilty crown has a lot more romance in it, they're both similar because of the protagonist's goal to discover their innate power and save or get what they wanted the most. The only drawback here is guilty crown's plot is shallow unlike code geass

They definitely have the same feel as each other, especially the way in which they both manage to balance the mix of despair and hope together in a post apocalyptic type scene is first-class. I think its how the main characters in both stories' struggle to do what they percieve is right despite being misunderstood by theire friends/ allies in the process is what gives them the edge on most anime of similar genres.

Both deal  about the same topic for example rebellion and the first episode is also quite similar to each other.

So if you liked one of those it's quite impossible that you dislike the other one.

Main character is a Japanese student who accidentaly gets involved with something and ends up getting a mystical power to change the world with.

Both deal a lot with what is right or wrong and what means are justified to achieve your goals. They're also very critical of the government and to some extent of society.

Differences

Code Geass focuses more on strategy. Main character is a self-confident mastermind that uses much psychology and strategy to get what he wants. Also it contains mecha's as an important component where Guilty Crown has them but are much less important to the storyline and action.

Guilty Crown has a great way of using the visuals to persuade of more emotion. The majority of the series has a positive vibe to this and combined with the great opening video is very enjoyable in that. Code Geass is a lot more persistently dark in this area.

Both have stories that are more difficult than most to guess. There is a nice amount of romance in both though Guilty Crown centers around it more than Code Geass does. The main characters of each end up being very alike though they come from different backgrounds and start out as opposites (one is happy for the power while the other is scared of it).

Both are tragedies and surround one main guy wanting to protect those close to his heart. Both Lelouch and Shu were given a power which allowed them to reign over the rest and the internal conflicts they have within themselves make them seem alot more human than the evil persona they present to others.

I like Code Geass more than Guilty Crown, but still, both of them are great animes!

On its own, Guilty Crown is its own anime up to the twelfth episode.  Afterwards, the similarlities between the animes become considerably more prominant.  From this, in hindsight, it is almost a direct parallel to the Code Geass series until the ending.

The main differences lie in the main characters: Code Geass has a smart and rather cunning protagonist, but on other side of the looking glass, Guilty Crown has a slightly introverted and emotive protagonist.  Given the difference of situation in the story line, and the plot grows from there.  Consequently, Code Geass focused on more strategical-twists compared to the more emotive-twists in Guilty Crown.

They are both good and contain elements of each other.  However, Guilty crown is more tighly woven and emotional than Code Geass which is more encompassing and quick-tactics.  Depending on your preference depends on which may be more enjoyable.

I would recommend these together as they are an interesting contrast between similar but perfectly unique animes!

Both main characters go through a period when their decisions become very questionable, yet they do it for the sake of others. If you like the confusing grey area of good vs bad in Leluch, from code geass, then i highly recommend this!!!

Lelouch and Shuu both are high school students who take control of the characters around them, and therefore feel the burden of their lives on their hands. Both strive to make the world a better place through questionable means. Both anime are full of action, drama, and emotion.

Both shows share screenwriters and share a lot of plot elements (at least initially). In both Japan gets invaded by those bad bad gaijin who rename it to some numbered area or ward. In both main character runs into some mysterious girl who grants him (one way or another) an odd superpower. Afterwards he joins rebels fighting ageinst those invaders. If you've seen one you can expect to see similar plot twist in the other, except in Guilty Crown those are cranked up to eleven and dosed with thick Neon Genesis Evangelion concentrate. Despite all those similarities, there is still a fair chance that you might dislike one if you liked the other, so don't blame me if it ends up being not to your liking.

Similar setting, similar struggle, and almost exactly the same turn around of the main character from protagonist to antagonist to secretly and then not so secretly protagonist again. Very well developped plots in both that make you feel like that is exactly what would happen in those kinds of situations to real people.

While there is a bit more political intrigue and less whining in Code Geass, these two anime are very similar in design. Especially once the mechas roll out. If you like one, check out the other.

The childhood, the mysterious girl, strange and terrible powers inside both protagonists, similarities between them, their fates and their decisions it's really alike. Whole atmosphere of the anime is really similar - starting from underground guerrilla movement and ending it with protagonist's internal struggle. If you've liked any of these two animes, another one would not be too far in your book.

The cause of the different powers in both anime   Is something unknown and the appearance of the powers are somewhat similar. Plus, both main characters are fighting to save their female friend.

Repressed childhood memories seem to be the main order of the day in both of these anime. Both main characters are a tad whiny, are followed by a somewhat strange, powerful female lead, and are often in the shadow of more charasmatic male characters. However, both main characters are equipped with a super bio weapon they can use to fight. If you like one, you might like the other.

I believe that these two animes are very similar in that both main characters are shown to be very weak in the beginning. Eventually they become turn into more of a better charter that most people like gradually. 

They also have the girl with pink hair by their sides. :)

Weak, spineless coward MC meets mysterious, dangerous pink-haired girl with pigtails and gets thrown into a fight for his life against people who are targeting them. Side characters include MC's high school school friends who he's not really close to due to his introvert nature. They bond over teamwork in dangerous situations. Betrayal and death of loved ones turns MC into a ruthless, coldhearted tyrant in the second half. Female yandere alert.

Both contain supernatural elements and romance. The shy main characters, that are quite similar, sozialize after meeting a (crazy) girls who support them. They get thrown into a war and eventually decide to stop at nothing to reach their goals so things turn out very crazy.

The diference is that in Guilty Crown, the protagonist turns into a ruthless tyrant at some point, while in Mirai Nikki, the protagonist stays the same.

The same people were behind Guilty Crown and Kakumeiki Valvrave and it shows. Both are very colorful, fast paced sci-fi anime about a normal high school student who suddenly gains a super power that comes at a price. The school plays a big part in rallying against military powers that threaten to destroy it. More than anything the way the plot progresses is very alike, there are crazy twists every other episode and the storyline is often all over the place.

Let's see... both are about a guy getting superpower during a time of conflict, only to later realize they will have to pay the prize for it. Both series deal with kids trying to rule a a country, and both involve war, flashy action scenes, love stories, betrayal and a dose of ancient conspiracies for good measure.

TBH, they're also somewhat trainwreck-y (GC moreso), but aside from the heavier emphasis on the mecha element in Valvrave, they're really alike, so if you need a cool-looking sci-fi series, check them out.

A foreign country tries to take over and the protagonist becomes part of the resistance group with some friends from school lead by a manipulative, ruthless but charismatic young man.

A weak pacifist male main character who is expected to become "hero" in a way. That's what sticks out to me in both of these animes. Also, a famous singer is involved in the mix and there is another guy who calls the shots who the main character teams up with. Also, teenagers are basically running things in both shows.

Young, slightly beta male desperate to save/avenge a beautiful girl takes on a military by optaining a new, weird power. The boy pairs up with a light-haired guy who is way better at strategy, but has a bit of an iceberg personality. In both anime, the school becomes its own nation, somebody's death traumatizes everyone, and there's at least one overzealoud mecha pilot on the opposing faction. If you like one, you'll find a lot of similarities in the other.

The main reason behind this recommendation is that the characters between the two series seem very similar.  In both, there is a teenage boy who is forced by circumstances to fight for something he does not really believe in. Both of these characters suffer from a severe lack of self-confidence. They also have an attraction to the mysterious heroine that they interact with. Rei from Evangelion and Inori from Guilty Crown both seem to have trouble in expressing emotions, have a past that is shrouded in mystery, and an unclear relationship with the leader of the different organizations; Rei with Gendo and Inori with Gai.

Towards the latter half of the series the notion of armageddon comes into play, due to an event that occured in the past (Lost Chistmas and the 2nd Impact). Both anime's make reference to Adam and Eve and both Animes have similar characters, mecha action, themes and character tropes.

Guilty Crown is extremely post-NGE anime, so it's not unexpected that it takes bucketfuls of themes from NGE. Mentioning them all is pointless, so I'll keep it to the one that stands the most. Although those characters have different personalities in those two shows, one can't help but notice that the Shuu-Inori-Gai relationship\character mechanics in Guilty Crown resemble Shinji-Rei-Gendou relationship\character mechanics from NGE. I can't say that you'll definitely like one if you liked the other (you know both of those anime are infamous for a reason), but doe to the massive amounts of borrowed content it's still worth recommending one to the fans of the other.

I think you can appreciate both ways Neon Genesis Evangelion & Guilty Crown.

Both anime plot is about a Wolrd after an Apocalypse, the people survived are in a "bad situation" and there are "secret organization" that take the control.In both anime we have some "Mecha" used by the organization.

Btw: i really love the Opening of Evangelion and i really love the songs of Inori, two of the gratest soundtracks i've ever hear!!!

Both have main characters that are "normal" people who get caught up in something way bigger than themselves and obtain some form of unearthly power to help them save the world. So what if one of them is in the real world and the other is in a game world? They have a similar style and feel; if you like one...I'm not going to say you'll like the other...but I bet you will.

Both main characters are pubescent lone wolfs who (at some point get surrounded by many girls and) open up to others and fall in love during their wars. Both anime are set in the future (though SAO mostly takes place within a game). Furthermore the art style of the fighting scenes reminded me of each other.

While the resemblance between these anime is not so striking at first, believe me when I say they have a lot in common: kid joins terroristic group led by a stubborn young man of great ambition and meets mysterious girl with superpowers. Ancient conspiracies and mecha are also pretty important in both (though the mecha element is way heavier in ES). Many characters seems to have some counterpart in the other series, and have some problems with their development. Oh, and both start getting weirder as the end draws near.

If you liked one, try out the other.

This was the first anime i thought of when watching Guilty Grown beacuse it has a very similar build up. Boy meets mystrious girl, has feelings for said girl, girl is more or less "emontionless" toward boy, boy gets caught up in a "rebellion", boy is the ony one who is "compatiable with girl. Boy is weak, cowardly and well you know.

Both shows are post-NGE anime so many of the similarities probably come from that source. Anyway, at the beginning of both of those shows a boy meets a girl and falls in love with her. Shortly afterwards he ends up joining rebels because the girl is one of them, but being part of the rebels proves to be much more harsh than he expected. While male leads of those shows have different personalities, the girl and the leader of rebels come out as much more similar. Speaking of which character relations between the three are also similar in those two shows. All in all, due to quite a few similarities it might be worth checking out one if you've seen the other (especially if the one you've seen was Guilty Crown, because if it was the other way around you might end up being terribly disappointed).

The dynamic between the Ghekko State and Funeral Parlor feels identical. Gai feels like Holland especially with how the initial interactions between Shu and Gai are compared to Holland's views on Eureka later in E7.

Darker Than Black and Guilty Crown are similar in various ways, both being the first "half" or season on its own would have ended great. But the 2nd half brings about more mystery, malevolence and benevolence! Don't know how it can be both? You'll see what I mean when you watch the "2nd half!" Both main characters are accompanied by a girl and try to save them in the end, and in a way both get their wish. Both are excellent anime to watch, if you love one I'm sure you'll love the other! 5/5!

They do have comparable plot lines. No. 6 is probably handling the plot with more or a realistic or human approach in comparison to the setting. Guilty Crown makes full use of Sci-Fi, but in a wonderful fashion.

Both plots feature dystopias in which society, following an apocalyptic event and threatened by an epidemic, resorts to isolating and discriminating against those who are infected. The heroes of each anime, Sion in "No. 6" and Shu in "Guilty Crown," are both entangled in attempts to overthrow the governing system and ultimately faced with morally conflicting decisions in spite of their initially timid natures.

Althought character dynamics between the two shows may differ as "No. 6" focuses on the relationship between two male protagonists while "Guilty Crown" includes a male and female lead as well as several side relationships, the two are nonetheless mutually appealing for their humane character developments and moral storyline.

They are both very different from each other, yet look a like. Guilty Crown focusses on special abilities as well, while No. 6 has nothing to do with powers. But both are alike in a way. They both fight society in their own way and try to change the world.
