When I first started watching Rave, it reminded me of Jing. Both have wacky, random monsters/critters that appear out of nowhere... a delightful mix of comedy and action, and colorfully drawn characters. Jing is 100% episodic, however.. which might turn some people off, but it still is incredibly entertaining.

VRDave VRDave says...

The random characters and strange creatures all over the place are quite similar. Jing however doesn't have an epic story like Rave does. But the fight scenes in both are clever and exciting.

sublime sublime says...

Big, bold and fun are three words I'd use to describe both Rave and King of Bandit Jing. Extremely memorable characters in both series. And although there is no similarity in plot (Rave having an ongoing story and Jing being short story episodes in nature), I think it's hard to find something that's going to match Jing plot wise, purely because of the fantasy of it all. But Rave comes very close.

AnimeUnrivaled AnimeUnrivaled says...

Groove Adventure Rave and Shaman King both center around characters with powers peculiar to themselves. While the underlying basis for the powers in each of the shows is entirely unique, both shows seem to share the same spirit. Yoh and Haru are entirely different characters, but both provide moments of intense laughter as well as moments of complete sincerity. Both characters attempt to keep living a light-hearted lifestyle while taking upon intense responsibilities only they can face. The trials in both shows are entirely serious while the friendships made along the way in the two are hillariously entertaining. The balance between good humor, intense action, and intriguing plotline is mirrored between the shows. That's definitely a good thing.

Fuu Fuu says...

If you like Rave you'll love Shaman King. It's funny and very humorous with the right touch of love. ^.-  Well, there crazy animals like the ones in Rave, but the ghosts in Shaman King help balance that out.

freakzilla freakzilla says...

Rave and Shaman King are both lighthearted series. With a laid back atmosphere, some fun fights and eventually a decent story, I'd say these anime have quite a few things in common.

charliechan charliechan says...

If you like the idea about people fighting with magical swords then theses are for you. Both have great action fights and good plots to follow.

Rave and Inuyasha have very similar themes: in each, broken pieces of an artifact from the past have been scattered and the protagonists are on a seemingly neverending quest to find them all. It's interesting to see how the very different characters cope with a similar situation. While Inuyasha has more action, Rave has less episodes.

charliechan charliechan says...

If you like stories about people serching for maicl thing then you will these two. Both have their own style of action while at the same time showing a reationship between the main people.

Emily99073 Emily99073 says...

Both involves a stone which was broken and scattered all around the world. The main characters in both animes searches for the pieces before they are found by demons. But also meet new characters through out the story.

If you liked the vibrant colors and animations style of Groove Adventures Rave, you'll like Scryed. The action is just as packed, but Rave is geared a slight bit more towards young teens I think, but it's still really good and the underlying plot is much better than Rave.

amateurasu amateurasu says...

Both these shows are action-packed, with explosive and exciting battles in nearly every episode. THey also have very similar feels as far as the setting goes, though RAVE is more lighthearted and comedic by far. A little romance, a little comedy (or a LOT for RAVE) and a heckuva lot of action. Basically, Scryed is sort of a midpoint between RAVE and Evangelion.

Action, action, action -- Naruto's got ninjas, and Groove Adventure RAVE has a guy with a huge sword...and a little creature with a horn. Both series achieve a good mix of comedy and action with an overarching plot, but Groove Adventure RAVE delves deeper with its characters and goes farther in terms of storytelling.

Eleventh Eleventh says...

Rave and Naruto are feel-good anime series with some depth! They are suitable for all ages with strong (if overly simplified) didactic themes. They are perfect for the young anime beginner, and have enough episode longevity to keep you occupied for a while.

One Piece's adventure type anime provides serious and yet comical at times characters, who just about everyone can watch, laugh at or with, and enjoy. It's similarity to Rave lies in it's genre mostly, so if you like adventure and One Piece, you'll like Rave.

Groove Adventures Rave has a similar story to Blue Seed, with a "save the world from evil and destruction" type of feel. Only, in Groove a  sword is used instead of hand-to-hand 'seed' combat.
