Gintama

Gintama

In Gintoki's Japan, the arrival of the various space races known collectively as the Amanto ended the era of the samurai. The Amanto's highly advanced technology resulted in total conquest and a severe economic shift. Now, former samurai such as Gintoki scrape together whatever livelihood they can. Gintoki's profession of choice is that of a yorozuya: he'll complete any job for money. However, he’s unmotivated; and spending most of the day on the couch with the latest issue of Jump and a carton of Strawberry Milk is his preferred pastime. It turns out that his new unpaid employees, Shinpachi and Kagura, are going to interfere with his pastime even more than with his "work"! Of course, none of this means he has really given up on his samurai ideologies!

Both shows have a really lazy, lax, and irresponsible male protagonist that likes to screw around most of the time, but actually has a lot of talent and skill to get things done.Whereas Gintama has an obvious story to it, GTO is more episodal with no technical story to speak of. But they are both very funny shows and you will definitely enjoy one if you saw the other.

Both Beck and GTO are stories of the main character living out their dream, despite first thinking its impossible.

The main characters, Koyuki and Onizuka, can almost be the same person but at different ages.  They both are shy around girls due to their lack of interaction throughout life and are dreamers who will aim high and keep trying to reach their goal.

The two shows share some great rock music and a good comedy meets love story.

Instead of recommending these shows for their similarities in plot and settings, the main reason for this recommendation is the similar style of storytelling. We have an eccentric main character who is trying to become something he is not. In the case of GTO, it is gang leader Onizuka deciding to become a High School Teacher; in the case of Space Brothers, it is a car engineer trying to become an austronaut.

Furthermore, the comedy and artstyle in both shows is quite similar in that it is more realistic, even though the humor can be over the top. The main difference is that the humor in GTO is much more plentiful and extreme and the drama is deeper and more heartfelt. In Space Brothers, there is humor and drama, but it is portrayed more realistically without extreme swings either way.

If you can get around the difference in date, I believe you can enjoy both these series if you are looking for a comedic drama where an eccentric individual pursues a role which goes against what society expects.

Interviews with Monster Girls

Interviews with Monster Girls

Succubi, dullahans, snow women and vampires... We're a little different from humans and called "demi-humans." Lately, we've been called "demis." This is a stimulating and heartful school demi-human comedy featuring those very unique "demis" and a high school teacher named Takahashi Tetsuo, who's highly interested in learning more about their daily lives and habits.

I believe that these two anime are extremley similar in the aspect that both of them have amazing teachers (although onizuka is more badass and has a broarder connection than takahashi as expected from a former delinquent) who share the goal of helping the students. Although Interview With Mosnter Girls has a more fantasy and cheerful mood to it than Onizuka who deals with problems like suicide and bullying that isn't addressed alot in Interview With Monster Girls to keep the cheerful concept more dominant. Both shows are really amazing if you like a short anime to cheer you up after a long day I reccomend Interview With Monster Girls, If you want a long roller coaster ride of feels you should watch Great Teacher Onizuka.

The teachers can't outwit him, and when there's an animal in trouble, even the raging winds can't hold him back! Whether he's thwarting bullies, sword fighting with an angry bee, or eluding the unwanted attentions of a smitten middle-aged lady, he will always succeed and he will always look unimaginably cool while doing it. The two are give a similar feel with the main characters being polar opposites.  Great teacher Onizuka is about a ex-gang leader becoming a teacher, who is a good-for-nothing.  Sakamoto is a high school first-year who is perfect in every way.  They both follow the main characters getting out of tough situations.

The main character becomes a parental figure to a teenager who has been abused or did abuse others, and as a result, helps them grow and focus on their future.
