In the world of underground fighting, there is no time limit, no referee, and no ban of technique, not even murderous ones. This is the underground world that Baki, the young champion fighter must fight in to show the world how strong he can be. Only by challenging and accepting the strongest opponents from the world can he hope that one day he can overcome his greatest opponent of all, his father.
Grappler Baki is a great title, in my opinion, and a bit underrated. If you liked the protagonist, and you like extreme grappling matches with plenty of hyper-violence, why not check out the more modern adaptation? It's a longer series, and has a lot more drama involving the characters. A better narrative, better animation, and more of the stuff you loved about this OVA! What could be better?
The evil Bison has returned with sinister plans to take over the world using Shadow Law, his nefarious crime syndicate! His cyborg goons are searching the globe to take out any martial artist who might stand in Bison's way -- brainwashing and recruiting those who they defeat. But when Ryu manages to kill one of Bison's prime fighters, Bison discovers Ryu's potential and wants it for his own. Now, with the help of allies who are out for revenge, can Ryu defeat this all-powerful fighting machine before Bison enslaves him as well?
Well, both of these are movies about martial arts that feature pretty impressive fights and good old school animation. Albeit different in some aspects (e.g. Grappler Baki is way more violent while Street Fighter has more characters and much better OST), they're still easily recommended for each other if you like the genre.
