The plots and settings would indicate that these two are an unlikely pair, but Perfect Blue and Ghost both feature dark psychological drama and depth underneath the surface plot. They should both appeal to psycho thriller fans.

Both GITS and Perfect Blue question the notion of the self and identity, and feature a haunting hybrid of traditional and electronic music.

This is another anime that is done mostly to show off the directing/writing/and animation skills of the creators. The story is a basic good against evil, but the juxtaposition of the different time periods all within the same time frame gives the anime a very unique look.

If you liked the detailed graphics and amazing music, I highly recommend this. Music is like james bond, and attention to detail in the video is amazing. The story line couldn't be more different, but the level of anime mastery is the same...

Sky Crawlers

Both movies are directed by Mamoru Oshii and contain similar themes like characters that are not exactly human, questioning existence. Both have outstanding visuals and audio. If you've seen one (and liked it) you should definitely watch the other as well.

P.S. Sky Crawler contains a lot of references to other Oshii's movies. Don't miss the scene which appears after the credits.

Both of these movies have the same director, and studio. They have many of the same themes and the have nearly the same feel to them. if you liked one im sure you'll dig the other.

Both of these are visually intriguing titles that include stories of what makes us human. They both deal in cybernetics and both have a good deal of action

Captain Harlock

Captain Harlock

In the year 2977, humanity has long passed its peak; machines are able to perform any task a human can, and people have succumbed to apathy. However, there remains one who refuses to accept such an existence: Captan Harlock, a pirate who sails the sea of stars aboard his ship, the Arcadia. He is feared and loathed by most inhabitants of Earth, and yet he is their only hope against the Mazones, a strange alien race of beautiful women that threatens humanity. Thus begins a lonely battle in which Harlock and the crew of Arcadia struggle to stay true to their ideals, while slowly unravelling the sad tale of the Mazones.
