When Futaba Yoshinaga won a gargoyle statue from a lottery, she had no idea that the inanimate object was actually a sentient talking being! Named simply Gargoyle (or Gar-kun), the statue decided to protect not only the Yoshinaga family, but the entire town of Goshiko. With a variety of characters trying to prove their superiority over Gar-kun and the wacky inventions of his crazy creator, Iyo Takahara, at every turn, it seems that life for the Yoshinaga family will never be the same again!
Once upon a time, a creature named Enka tried to destroy everything on Earth. It was eventually slain by humans; but before dying Enka proclaimed that one day its child would return to the planet, spreading fear and despair throughout all humanity. Now, thousands of years later, DNA tests have identified six 'children of Enka'. Only one of them is dangerous, but nobody knows which one (and killing them all would be mean!) Instead, 'Operation Cozy Family' is born! Normal human Ouka Midarezaki is forced into marrying Kyouka, one of the children of Enka; and together they play the roles of 'father' and 'mother' for the other children. But will family bonding and love really be enough to prevent the destruction of the planet?
Both anime follow the life of a family surrounded by weird and crazy characters (including, but not limited to, talking statues and animals, dancing plants, hi-tech robots and angrish-speaking wackos). Both are mainly comedy which rely on the characters' personalities, yet they sometimes try to embrace other genres by showing you some light drama or even funny "fighting-like" scenes.
I personally think the Frenzied Family is more humorous, but if you like one the other will probably be able to entertain you.
Miki is a psychotic mascot, waitress and delivery girl who works at her equally as frightening mother's ramen shop. Both survivor and instigator of years of ruthless, no-holds-barred domestic violence, Miki has a capacity for destruction usually found only in people with things like "the Impaler" added to their name. Yet, she also has a kind side to her and is often found going implausible distances out of her way to rescue both proverbial and literal lost kittens, though some malignant souls might misconstrue this as merely ditching her work...
Both of these animes are comedies centered around life in a small town. They are funny and sarcastic and although one is slice of life and the other is fantasy, their humour is so similar that if you liked one, you will like the other.
