Ever since they met, emotionless Hotaru and ditzy Mikanhave been best friends, and are virtually inseparable-- that is, until Hotaru is invited to attend a strange school far away, a school for those who have special abilities known as "Alice". Unable to be separated from her friend, Mikan soon sets out on a mission to find her. After traveling to a city far away, she finds Hotaru at last, but gets much more than she bargained for. Now, she is lost in a school full of kids with strange powers, unusual animals, and has secured an immediate rivalry with the toughest little punk in town!
Fifteen-year-old Tsukune Aono is average in every way; he has no hobbies, less-than-stellar grades and he's even flunked his high school entrance exam. His parents have managed to enroll him in a school, but it's no ordinary school! Tsukune will be attending the Youkai Academy, a place where monsters learn how to co-exist with humans! As the werewolves, vampires, witches and other monsters are required to retain their human forms, Tsukune - the lone human - is able to avoid their bloodthirsty gazes. However, he quickly attracts the attention of a number of devilish beauties including the vampire Moka, a busty succubus and even a young witch! It seems Tsukune's average life isn't so average anymore!
Both of these animes are about a character who is transferred to a school where they feel out of place at first because the other students have magical powers and they do not. The main characters also within time gain many friends. These series are both less than 50 episodes and have great mangas if you want to continue seeing what happens after the anime.
Mirumo is the selfish and chocolate-loving prince of a magical kingdom. As the successor of the kingdom, his father wants him to travel to the human world and study -- but Mirumo has other plans! Due to his unwillingness to go, the King declares that Mirumo must be married at once to his betrothed, the beautiful and clingy Ririmu. But Mirumo and Kaede are not alone; Ririmu soon follows to help Yuuki, and Yashichi the Ninja to help Minami's rival for Yuuki's love, Hidaka Azumi! Hilarious antics abound in the new and complicated lives of these friends and enemies!
Even though the plots are very different, in both animes there is a strong friendship between the main character and her best friend. In Mirmo it is so stong and beautiful that i cried.. everysingle time is saw episodes 100-102 i cried, but you wouldn't the depth of their friendship until you saw the whole show :P there is also love, magic, compatition, and just plain comedy in both animes :)
In Mirmo it is a a little fairy conpanion that helps her fufil her dream which is for her and her love, Setsu, to end up together.
In Gakuen Alice the strong friendship is between the main character and her childhood friend, which moves away and she ends up following her.

Toma Kamijo's right hand has the ability to nullify any form of supernatural power, whether it be magical, psychic, or divine; he lives in a city populated by students with these powers. Yet unfortunately for Toma, his arm also seems to nullify good luck. Despite his bad luck, Toma tries to stay out of trouble and just live out his life, trying to be the "good guy" whenever he can; but trouble enters his life one day when he finds a young girl hanging on his balcony. She turns out to be a nun of the Church of England, bearing the Index-Librorum-Prohibitorum - a collection of 103,000 forbidden texts, and as a result has a number of people after her. How far will Toma go to protect his new companion from her pursuers?
The settings in each series are extremely similar, focusing mainly around super powered kids that are confined to a special area while they use their super powers. Furthermore, each series has those with powers separated into ranks.
