Over time, the two battle malicious spirits and grow closer together – but soon, more terrifying foes begin to reveal themselves. A swarm of glowing blue butterflies and a mysterious stone are harbingers of darker things to come, and one thing’s for sure: Kagura and Yomi will never be the same.

And they fight with them - either because they want to, like to or have no other choice of lifethe main character in both animes is an orphan, given refuge and love by second father - found a person who she love ( love as in father-son or sister-sister ). but time will show that there is something else too. and that 'else' is not that good
Ga-Rei Zero and D.Gray-Man, both have:
- a focus on action, fighting,
- an hunting demon organization;
- good animation.

If seeing girls fight together against freaky monsters is you thing check either of these out. Highschool of the Dead has more fanservice where Ga-Rei -Zero- seems to have a more serious tone to it. Check out one if you liked the other.
Ga-Rei -Zero- and High School of the Dead both feature a small group of heroes fighting hoardes of monsters. Both shows have great fast paced action and bloody battles. If you enjoyed the action in one of these shows then you will also like the other.

At the outset everything seems peaceful and Keiichi becomes friends with a nice group of schoolgirls with whom he spends many idle summer afternoons. The inconsistent, but inevitable horrors of Hinamizawa are told and retold becoming an endless and inescapable nightmare of insanity. Will it end even if the mystery of Hinamizawa is solved?
The story is very screwed! Not at one time "catch" for the heart, in which the spin tear in the eye! Sight of blood, abuse is perfectly presented! For people with a strong stomach!
Both shows have an shocking first episode and they also have gore tough higurashi is the more violent one both of these show are about a sad story so if you liked the gore and the sadness in one of these shows you will most likely like the other one too.

In a row: bloody/dark atmosphere, leading female with unique personality that changes through the story, supernatural, plot-order, romance background and so much more alike. You just can't help but loving and hating these girls.
Are you into that? Then check this anime.
Both start out with dark atmosphere, with an episode which is out of the chronological order of the other episodes. The main character of both series are women, who have a disturbed backstory, and their character personalities change dramatically during the story, whilst on their journey of dealing with the supernatural. On top of this, both series rely on suspense, and often treat the viewer to awesome action scenes.
In a nightmarish Earth, bugs (mushi) have begun to infect humans. Though not hurting their hosts initially, eventually the mushi devour the hosts' dreams, killing them in the process. Humans that are "lucky" enough to have their mushi killed ahead of time become emotionless and thoughtless zombies. In this uncertain time the Mushibune, infected humans who resist their persecution, are up against the Special Environment Preservation Agency, an organization hell-bent on destroying the mushi. Kakkou, SEPA's top agent, has been sent undercover to track down a high school student; but he didn't realize he'd meet and fall for the lovely Shiika instead...
Beautiful animation in both Mushiuta and Ga-Rei is perfect for the futuristic and technology rich style of the shows.
If you enjoy the action and adventure in one of these shows that are aimed more at a mature audience, then I think you will love the other.
both animes have their own people with strange supernatural powers so if you liked one you will also like the other
