Tamahome is gone -- but not forgotten. He has been reincarnated as a man named Taka in Miaka's homeworld, and as fate would have it, they have met each other yet again. The memories of Tamahome's past and love for Miaka remain intact, but are trapped within memory globes in the Universe of the Four Gods. Ayashi no Ceres is considerably darker than Fushigi Yugi (and OVAs) but if you liked the semi tragic elements of FY, you'd probably enjoy AnC. In addition, the animation is quite similar.
Hitomi was just a normal high school girl, until she was taken by the mysterious Van Fanel and dropped into a world of romance, magic and giant sword-wielding armor suits! Now Van, pilot of the famed armor suit Escaflowne; and Hitomi, whose hobby of predicting the future just became a frightening reality, must work together and fight the advanced technology of Zaibach: a force who want to shape Gaea to their visions of "peace". Follow Hitomi in her struggles against both these forces who seek to conquer this world, and her own confused heart.
If the traveling to a fantasy world thing floats your boat, you might also enjoy Escaflowne. Though Fushigi Yugi (and OVAs) are remarkably more saccharine and harem-like, Escaflowne is a good match because of its female protagonist and overall fantasy-feel.
