Once upon a time, two brothers passed the happy days of their childhood by studying alchemy, which is governed by the equal transfer principle: an eye for an eye -- you can't get more than you give. But these brothers tried to defy that law, and a horrific accident resulted. Now, the older brother, Edward, is called the Full Metal Alchemist because of his metal limbs, and the younger, Alphonse, is a soul without a body, trapped within the confines of an automaton. Together they search for the power to restore themselves, to find the lives they lost so long ago...
In a time of great heroes, the evil Sephiroth and the power of Meteor were vanquished by a warrior named Cloud Strife and his companions. Now, though the life stream of the world has been restored, certain people have become sick with Geo Stigma -- an illness which is as mysterious as it is incurable. Meanwhile, in the shadows, a new enemy has appeared: Kadaj, who holds the key to the destruction of all life. Against insurmountable odds, Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Cid and the rest of the gang must band together one last time to defeat Kadaj and save the world from annihilation.
Both of these anime have a deep plot, the main character in some form of inner turmoil and a large scale problem.
In both these anime you are made to symapthise with the main character and support them along the way. Another similarity is that in both of these shows, we see what the opposition is up to just that bit more than the protaganist(s) do. This gives us a more wide spread view of events and makes for a different way of enjoying the show.
If you enjoyed one, the other is definately for you.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Fullmetal Alchemist have serious sides along with a well-balanced sense of emotional sides. The main characters inner feelings and problems are seen on a larger scale in both of these shows but have a back up in the supporting characters around them.
In a massive online world, people act only as well as their conscience demands. When one player's punishment is to be trapped in this world, a disparate group of people seek the answers why. Their motives are varied; their methods even more so. What stands between when we tear down the walls of reality? Where does our soul end and we begin?
Both series have a character that has lost something and tries to get it back. Ed and Al want their bodies back, and the guy from .hack//SIGN wants to be able to log out of the game.
Drawn to the mystique of the unknown, Hunters travel the world in search of terrifying creatures, incredible riches, and unexplored lands. Gon Freecss is a naive-yet-determined young boy who aspires to join the ranks of these individuals, in order to find his missing father Ging - a master of the profession himself. To reach his goal, he partakes in the formidable Hunter Exam, a series of tests that push the participants to their physical and mental limits, with a Hunter License as the prize. During the exam Gon befriends vengeful Kurapika, doctor-to-be Leorio, and skilled assassin Killua, who have entered for their own reasons. But with the sinister Hisoka standing in their way, will Gon and his friends be able to succeed in obtaining their reward, or even escaping with their lives?
Both Hunter X Hunter and Fullmetal Alchemist focus on a small group of protagonists who have an ultimate goal and the story follows their path to achieve them. Both greatly develop the characters, both major and minor. If you like adventure animes or character development then these are two of the best you'll find.
Alice is a preteen girl who believes in magic, much to the dismay of her parents and peers. But when she finds herself transported into a dreamlike world filled with magic, forest sprites, and witches, she finds out that magic is sometimes not all it’s cracked up to be. The witches of this world must capture forest sprites for use in casting their spells, and magical hierarchy dictates that those at the bottom must compete to get to the top. Dream or not, Alice must use her positive attitude to show these witches that magic should be used to spread happiness, first and foremost!
Both FMA and Arusu are very well-made series featuring children/teens that are fairly mature going on an journey. Each is very EPIC, with a plot that is filled with twists and turns that keep the series interesting.
Both are set in an expansive steampunk-with-a-twist world (magic in Arusu, alchemy in FMA).
Both of these anime take a look at what would have happened if a form of magic had won out in the technology race. Both anime evolve around the protagonist journeying to discover a new power. Both also use the idea of equivalent exchange; the magic cannot be done without something being the catalyst.
Two and a half years have passed since the end of Naruto’s old adventures. He has trained hard with Jiraiya-sama and has returned to Konoha to reunite with his friends; but Akatsuki, the organization that threatened Naruto years before, is on the move again and this time Naruto is not the only one in danger. With the powerful Akatsuki organization looming ahead of him, Sasuke still missing, and the struggle with the beast hidden inside him a continuous battle, will Naruto's hard-earned improvements be enough? Join Naruto, Sakura, new friends and the rest of the old gang as the action heats up with new techniques and stronger enemies.
I think you would like Naruto if you liked FMA (and vice versa) because the characters are very similar. They try to reach their personal goals, and go on missions from leaders.
My two absolutly favourite animes^^
They remind a lot about each other and if you'd like the one you'll like the other one :D
In both series we have a person everybody looks down on in the start (Ed & Naruto) but are fighting for there dreams (getting his body back & becoming hokage) and they both end up respekted by everyone around them. And we have the annoying type whom every girl falls in love with (Roy Mustang & Sasuke) whom the protoganist hates but on the other side he is a great friend (okay in the end Sasuke isen't the best friend, but.. xD) and we have the short tempered, hard kicking girl (Winry & Sakura) and not to forget the one who always tries to calm down the protoganist (Al & Kakashi) but this is also the only way they resemble each other O.o (I coulden't imagine Al sitting and reading porn XD ...or i wouldent even try--- ARGH to late-.-) XD
