Synopsis:

Once upon a time, two brothers passed the happy days of their childhood by studying alchemy, which is governed by the equal transfer principle: an eye for an eye -- you can't get more than you give. But these brothers tried to defy that law, and a horrific accident resulted. Now, the older brother, Edward, is called the Full Metal Alchemist because of his metal limbs, and the younger, Alphonse, is a soul without a body, trapped within the confines of an automaton. Together they search for the power to restore themselves, to find the lives they lost so long ago...

Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop

Follow interstellar bounty hunters Spike Spiegel and Jet Black as they scour the galaxy for criminals with prices on their heads. Hoping to escape their past, they live on the spaceship Bebop, but it's a dangerous business and old enemies don't forget easily. Allies come from unlikely sources, however, as they find comrades in the beautiful swindler Faye Valentine, the genius child hacker Ed and the genetically engineered 'data dog' Ein. Will they be able to help each other though their respective struggles, or is their fate really inevitable?

Both FMA and Cowboy Bebop are adventure stories that have the potential to evoke a wide range of emotional responses. I've caught myself laughing, crying, grinning wickedly, closing my eyes in disgust, and opening them wide in horror more times than I can count. At the core of both are small groups of complex, strongly motivated characters living in settings that are a whole lot darker than they first appear and caught up in circumstances far larger than the viewer is first exposed to.

Denno Coil

Denno Coil

In a futuristic world, the virtual world is merely a layer on top of reality; within it, cyberpets are abundant and information is plentiful, and it is only visible by wearing special cyberglasses. In Daikoku City, this cyberspace is behaving strangely: cyberpets are going missing, dark entities known as "the Illegal" roam obsolete space that shouldn’t exist, and a large pink antivirus program known as Satchii wanders the streets, attacking both virus and pets alike. Sixth grader Yuko Okonogi has just moved to Daikoku City, and after cyberdetective children help her rescue her lost dog, she soon joins the others in a search for the truth behind these strange occurances.

I think these two series gives off a lot of the same vibes. Both have strong themes of searching for something from the past; characters that are bad, but at the same time good; and deeper philosophical meanings of what the definition of "life" really is.

Dragon Drive

Dragon Drive

Throughout his life, Oozora Reiji has always been rather half-hearted. Never able to fully dedicate himself to anything, he lives a sloppy day-to-day existence, until his classmate Yukino introduces him to Dragon Drive -- a virtual reality game. While Reiji garners a passion for the game, it would seem that its founders have other things in mind than simple entertainment. During a special training, Reiji discovers that Dragon Drive is more than just a game, and now must fight for the survival of the dragons as well as all of mankind!

Full Metal Alchemist and Dragon Drive are completely different from eachother, however the main character in each series is played by the same voice actor, and the characters themselves are quite similar in their attitude towards life. I don't know what else to say, but if you liked one, you'd most likely like the other.

Elemental Gelade

Elemental Gelade

As an orphan whose life is in the hands of space pirates, Coud has had no choice but to survive on bravado alone. He has nothing to live for until he finds Ren entombed amongst the treasures in the pirate ship's hold, and awakens her. In addition to being mysterious and beautiful, Ren can transform into a battle sword to help Coud fight and prove his strength -- but with this strength comes the bitter realization that power alone is not enough. Now, in a race against time, Coud must endure betrayals and fierce battles as he struggles to return Ren to her home, before it's too late...

FMA and elemental gelade both have lots of action and fights, but there are also some romantic and humouristic touches in these anime. They also both are anime in a fantasy world.

Fate/Zero

Fate/Zero

Ten years before Shirou Emiya's and Saber's fateful meeting, Japan is the stage for the fourth Holy Grail War. Seven Masters, each with his own dreams, step forward to win the boon of the mystic relic. Into this fray comes Kiritsugu Emiya, the enigmatic "Mage Killer" who wants to use the Grail to make a better world. Can he, paired with the indomitable Saber win the War? Or will he fall to the ambitions of the other mages?

They both have dark themes and creative use of magic. Fullmetal Alchemist has less ambiguous protagonists and antaganists, but both shows are excellent about developing character motivations.
