Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Sousuke Sagara is far from the average high school student - not only is he highly trained in military tactics, he puts his knowledge to use in every single applicable situation (and even those nonapplicable ones.) So, when confronted with high school, he tends to turn average high school experiences into off-the-wall adventures. Love letters become terrorist threats and field trips become commando operations; his survival depends on the watchful eye of his best friend and classmate, Kaname. Together, they may just make it out of high school alive...

After seeing Full Metal Panic! it is quite fun (read: hilarious) to watch Fumoffu. It's a pleasant trip back to the characters lives. If you liked the comical part in the beginning of Full Metal Panic! you'll like this too.

These two series are what I like to refer to as a "soldier theme" series. Meaning, that they deal with soldiers, and all the classic themes and stories. The stories usually are, fighting far away yet have a love back home to think of, soldiers who wish to die, friend vs friend, heroic tales against the odds, death of comrades to name a few.

Innocent Venus

Innocent Venus

In the year 2010, an environmental disaster has decimated the human population, leaving the remnants struggling to survive. Out of these rose an oppressive and wealthy ruling class, the Logos, who live comfortably in their special economic zones while the majority of humanity struggle and suffer in the ruins of the past. Two men, Katsuragi Jo and Tsurasawa Hitoshi, desert their military unit 'Phantom', taking with them a mysterious little girl. Why did they side with the resistance they once helped suppress, and what’s the significance of this innocent young girl?

Both Full Metal Panic! and Innocent Venus center around the protection of one girl and feature mecha units that they use to fight. Both of the girls develop a "love" for their protectors. Although in Full Metal Panic it's a romantic type love, while in Innocent Venus it's more of a father-daughter type love. Innocent Venus is a little more serious than FMP!, but there are a few characters in Innocent Venus that provide some comic relief. If you liked one, then you should give the other a try.

If you liked watching either Love Hina or FMP you might also like the other. Both anime include strong female characters and clueless males who are always getting themselves into trouble.

Last Exile and Full Metal Panic have a similar feel to them in regards to the combination of action scenes and character drama. Full Metal Panic involves fighting in robotic machines, while Last Exile is centered around warfare in the skies, but both have well developed characters and interactions, not to mention friendship and relationship drama. If you like either series for its plot tension, it's safe to say you'd like the other.
