While there may not be battles to save Suguru's life in this series, Full Metal Panic fans might like this series for the sheer fact that there are bettles in Mahoromatic... battles to keep a lusty teacher away from the innocent 14 year old!

These are both mecha animes in what i would call a fairly realistic future sci fi type (sorry to raxephon and evangelion, but they are a little more farfetched) The mecha scenes just seem so believable (except for that damn giant red one in fmp... but i guess it's ok too) additionally the military organization and police force setting is quite similar, though you get more frequent escapes to school in fmp.

In a world of cybernetics, the one with the best implants win. This is a superb dark anime involving cybernetically enhanced humans within society. Great uses of originality, characters, and storyline make this a surefire series if you crave technology and robotics.

After seeing Full Metal Panic! it is quite fun (read: hilarious) to watch Fumoffu. It's a pleasant trip back to the characters lives. If you liked the comical part in the beginning of Full Metal Panic! you'll like this too.

These two series are what I like to refer to as a "soldier theme" series. Meaning, that they deal with soldiers, and all the classic themes and stories. The stories usually are, fighting far away yet have a love back home to think of, soldiers who wish to die, friend vs friend, heroic tales against the odds, death of comrades to name a few.
