Both of these series focus on the relationship between an unlikely pair, and jump frequently between action and comedy, switching between light-hearted and goofy to dramatic and serious depending on the episode. Ultimately it's the characters and the relationships they share that keep both of these series from going COMPLETELY off the rails (although both come close at least a couple of times IMO).
