Hmmm, I almost feel bad rating this bad boy since I didn't actually finish it, but I'm going to go against my better nature and do it anyway.  If you're a fan just stop reading now, because you'll probably disagree with me in a hundred different ways.  If you're not, then just begin by understanding that most people seem to find FLCL the greatest thing since sliced bread.  Personally I'd rather have a piece of sliced bread over a boat load of FLCL box sets.

Positives: There's a really good soundtrack and some fun crazy art going on.

Negatives: Yeesh, where to begin.  So I've read all the reviews about FLCL and how apparently if I didn't love it I just didn't get all the cool stuff about it, but even knowing that I'm apparently ignorant doesn't change the fact that I couldn't stand this show.

I suppose if I was on speed or something along those lines then the completely erratic nature of the show would have felt better paced, but being the more or less sober and clean cut kind of guy I am it was just too all over the place for me to enjoy.  Now don't get me wrong, when I was a kid I liked my crazy cartoons like the rest of 'em, but FLCL is just ridiculous.

I am all about watching anime that are deep and have multiple layers which you have to slowly peel away to get to the meat that's hidden inside, but I didn't feel that there was any reason to in this case.  It's just a flashy bunch of garbage designed to look like something special.  Harsh?  Maybe, but honestly, do you feel like somehow your life has been made better for having watched it?  What a stupid show.

I was going to say more, but I'm against taking the easy road so I'm going to leave this review as is.  FLCL may be all that for most folks, but for a few of us it's none of the above.

This show is mostly one of the funniest shows that I seen. Alright, so the characters are really out there but what I think is the crazy thing is, the one person that is seen as ‘normal’ is the main character, Naota. Unfortunately, I think he’s a little two bland of a character at least in the beginning. He always says nothing ever happens in the small town he lives in but yet, all around him, strange things that aren’t normal are happening. It makes me want to slap him upside the head! Of course, if I did, then something else may come out of his head then.

Haruko is a pretty cool character and as you keep watching, you find that she isn’t just a comedy piece. She actually seems to be rather smart and has some good info. As Naota and her get closer together, I feel that she helps him to except becoming an adult but yet still being a child.

Mamimi, I think, is an adult that never grew up. She seems to not be all there and in turn, it does make her a bit creepy to me. I don’t really see what Naota sees in her and even at one point; he seemed to be forcing himself to actually like her. I think she was just a substitute for his brother.

The artwork is really out of control, sometimes shown with a runny eggs look and other times almost normal (if you can say anything about this show is normal.) Now someone was a good boy and actually paid attention to their camera angles, sometimes it’s just a simple flip of where they are sitting and sometimes it’s just the angle in the battle scenes. Another little piece that’s interesting is that they used sort of a manga panel style once in a while. It shows off a bit of different styles from super realistic to runny eggs to even American pop culture like South Park.

When we go into the thought of English Dub or Sub, Dub I think is the way to go. The voices match the Japanese dub pretty well and they do keep the real intention of the show. Of course, they do change a couple little things but most of them were actually cultural differences and not much else. The music is wonderful and the pillows seem like the perfect band for this show. They are somewhat out of control and crazy but also has a controlled feel.

One of the most hilariously whirlwind anime I have ever seen! It cleverly surprises, shocks and amuses with phenomenal animation, overly funny and dynamic characters and a plot that goes in so many directions thought still keeps youn egaged no matter how outrageously funny and perverse it can be at times. Naota is such a relatable character in terms of his maturity beyond his years, contesting with the craziness of the world and people around him and getting caught up in situations he can't fully understand yet doesn't so easily let them slide without question. Second to him, Mamimi Samejima is a favorite character of mine in terms of the mystique aroound her and how her introspective wisdom strikes chords with Naota as he tries to figure out life and all the whacky scenarios he's inadvertently thrust in.

One of the most mind-bending yet magnetic Coming-of-Age anime ever produced that will have you fall out laughing and at the same time look at the world from Naota's point of view. We all encounter moments and people in life that shift our perceptions of the world, truth vs lies and meeting obstacles seemingly impossible to overcome. FLCL wonderfully illustrates and hits on these themes with rich humor, grit and sweeping charm that leaves you wanting to see more.

I LOVE MY FURI CURI!!!!!! (Don't say that in Japan unless you want to get slapped)

As Anyone will tell you this is an Amazing anime, I recommend it too anyone who likes thinking, Insanity, or even curry

After the 3 hours that is FOOLY COOLY

Story: A 2-way street, either 10 The story is amazingly complicated, or 0 It doesn't make any sense. Like many people will tell you fooly cooly is a coming of age story, for the young middle school main character, also you must understand that Haruko is evil ( or maybe just selfish)

Animation: The animation type jumped around alot for the situations, from awesome Stellar animation, to the moe, flowy type oh animation, and even South Park animation. The wide variety they use gives it a 10/10

Sound: 10/10 I'm a rock fan and heavily liked the songs from the pillows
-End of story

Characters: 9.5 All the characters are nice, and Funny, but there is a lack of seriousness in the characters, in fact the only serious characters would be the the Unspoken of Brother, and most of the time Naota

Overall: I gave this a 9.9 mostly IMO (I my opinion) I wanted more Eps.
