Recca dreams of one day becoming an excellent ninja, but in this day and age ninjas are only talked about in history lessons. While playing his ninja games, he meets a mysterious woman that reveals to Recca his past, his bond with the powerful Hokage clan, and the special flame power that resides within him. Meanwhile, the evil Kurei has plans to gather the madougu from the Hokage clan so that he may take control over the elemental powers, but Recca is determined to master his flame and stop Kurei’s evil plans. Does he have what it takes to live up to his own expectations and put a stop to Kurei himself?
Fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki is a typical teen with fighting skills, two caring sisters and a special trait: he can see ghosts. However, when Ichigo and his family find themselves under attack by a huge beast, Ichigo discovers that there’s more to the supernatural world than the everyday specter. Vengeful spirits known as Hollows roam the world in search of devouring souls, and Shinigami – soul reapers – work tirelessly to defeat them and guide normal ghosts into a place called Soul Society. Ichigo valiantly fights the Hollow that threatens his sisters, but on the verge of defeat a Shinigami named Rukia gives him her powers, turning him into a Shinigami himself. Ichigo must now adjust to his new life of both vanquishing and saving souls for the sake of Soul Society.
While being two completely different anime series with totally distinct styles, setting and features, Flame of Recca and Bleach have one theme in common: acquiring new abilities through demonstrating your determination to your weapons, who have intelligence, personality and at times attitude. Whether it is Madogu or Zanpakuto, it is never enough to just wield it and rely on its power to grant you victory, every hero must also prove worthy and learn to subdue and command it.
Some things in life are so bad that you'd like to pretend they're just a dream. Unfortunately for Kazuki, trying to save a strange girl from being brutally killed by monsters (and ending up dying instead) is an unfortunate reality. Out of pity, the girl replaces Kazuki's heart with an alchemy-based artifact known as Kakugane, so that he may live on. With this strange device, Kazuki gains the power of Busou Renkin -- Arms Alchemy; a power that will come in handy when monsters (and worse) begin to plague his town! Kazuki soon meets the girl from his “dream” (named Tokiko) in reality, and she tells Kazuki to get on with his life; but with his sister and friends in danger, that might not be possible. Besides, if Kazuki gives up the chance to show off just how manly he can be, how can he hope to win the heart of the alluring older-sister-like Tokiko?!
Flame of Recca and Busou Renkin are so similar you'd think they were by the same mangaka -- but you'd be wrong! However, the feel of the animes is very similar, in that you start off with an already talented fighter being given a new weapon, and learning to use it with the help of his friends. Additionally, you spend the entire anime rooting for the lovable main characters, and just enjoying yourself in general.
Flame of Recca and Busou Renkin have a very similar feel to them. Whether it is the two main characters who are sort of thrust into their roles and train as hard as they can, the constant battles, the variety of abilities, the simililarity in storylines, or really all of the above.
Suffice it to say, I believe if you enjoyed Flame of Recca or Busou Renkin you will enjoy the other.
Five years have passed since Goku and his friends defeated Piccolo Jr. and restored peace to the planet. Gohan - Goku's son - and a variety of good, bad, and morally ambiguous characters are back, and perpetually not ready for action! Aliens, androids, and magicians all hatch evil plots to destroy the world and it's up to Goku to save the Earth once more - that is, once he and his comrades train plentifully in preparation. Enemies will become friends and power levels will rise to unimaginable levels, but even with the help of the legendary Dragon Balls and Shen Long will it be enough to save Earth from ultimate destruction?
Drawn to the mystique of the unknown, Hunters travel the world in search of terrifying creatures, incredible riches, and unexplored lands. Gon Freecss is a naive-yet-determined young boy who aspires to join the ranks of these individuals, in order to find his missing father Ging - a master of the profession himself. To reach his goal, he partakes in the formidable Hunter Exam, a series of tests that push the participants to their physical and mental limits, with a Hunter License as the prize. During the exam Gon befriends vengeful Kurapika, doctor-to-be Leorio, and skilled assassin Killua, who have entered for their own reasons. But with the sinister Hisoka standing in their way, will Gon and his friends be able to succeed in obtaining their reward, or even escaping with their lives?
Ura Butou Satsujin from Flame of Recca bears countless similarities to Celestial Tower. If you liked this tournament-based anime, you will definitey enjoy Hunter x Hunter which belongs to the same genre, but is longer, more kind (unlike the manga) and deeper at times.
As a bonus, you will be amused to see that Hunters Association' president Netero has the same character design as Genjuro of Uruha Maboroshi team.
There's an adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure; but for Kosuke Ueki, one man's trash is another man's... tree?! Junior high school teacher Mr. K is in the running for the title of Celestial King. Candidates must select a junior high school student to endow powers upon, and then the students might fight each other mercilessly. The victorious student's benefactor will become the new Celestial King! Kosuke was Mr. K's choice, and for his power, he chose the ability to turn trash into trees. Furthermore, if he uses his abilities to harm others, he will lose one of his natural talents. Now, Kosuke must battle a variety of other power users to help Mr. K win it all, all while keeping his talents intact!
Because they both have tournaments. And both anime have an adventure filled with comedy. It's a shounen anime, therefore, I can recommend Flame of Recca with Law of Ueki.
One's based around Flames (or Ninjas as the anime likes to call it) while the other is based around Plants/Trees...at the end of the day, they are both typical shonen animes...if you like one, you'll def. like the other...and if you don't like one, there's very little that's different in the other (similar stories, typical boy/girl relationships, enemies that later become friends and so on)Y
