Watched this a while back and thought I would review it. I personally thought it was the best out of all the fate series, with the characters being my favorite. I felt the story gave mostly everyone involved a reason to be supported or a reason for you to not want them to die (besides some obvious few). I felt that was great because battles were even more emotionally intense with you not really wanting either side to lose. The backstories for characters was great and did what I felt a good job showing how they came to be who they are today. The animations were stunning with the range of colors and such. Would watch once again.

Fate/Zero is not yet one of the most known titles out there. I had nothing to do with the novels and didnt even see Stay Night before it. I just recently stumbled upon Fate/Zero and the story really looked interesting and the animations looked great. So why not?

This review will be at least objective because at the time I saw the series, I didnt have anything to compare is to plus it didnt have to live up to anything.

Story: perfect start. Nothing too special. Usually when the base plot is nothing extreme, just something a little supernatural put in a non-supernatural world, you get a recipe for a good anime. Good story, pretty weak ending though. Yeah, I know, after watching Stay Night its obvious why this is the ending, but still, its weak, its not worthy compared to all the other machinations that occur throughout the series. Also, to be honest, I didnt find the fight between the spirits to be anything special. Not bad, but Kiritsugus plans and background were way more interesting. 8.5/10

Characters: some of them were a bit too cliche, like the knight who kind of went overboard with the whole honor thing. Rider and his master were more so annoying than good for the series. Still, Kiritsugu was a great character and Kotomine the same. The 2 of them raise the quality of the characters portraid form mediocre cliches to awesome. 8.5/10

Animation: top quality. As I said before, I didnt really care much for the battle scenes, but the backgrounds look great! Fate/Zero has one of the best animation I have ever seen. The battles are coreographed weel enough and the magic also looks good. 9.5/10

Overall, were a bit let down by the weak ending, but the series was really interesting and Im probably part of the minority hear, but I found the first season to be way superior. The second season focuses mainly on the battles and those are not what make this anime really good. Its the main characters and their -lets just say the least- really interesting plans and motivations. 8.5/10

PS: Fate/Stay Night is nowhere near this in quality. Apparently they will redo Stay Night and thats a great plan

I don't know why but I cried a lot at the end. I tend to cry a lot, often, but looking at this anime you really wouldn't imagine it would be emotional in any aspect. If you're someone who isn't super hardcore into anime like myself and just like to watch to enjoy stories and so on, this is good. I think it was a really interesting concept and very likeable characters. You're just rooting for a majority of them to live on and do their best. Some parts of the story are confusing but that might just be me. Overall I don't regret watching this at all! I really liked it as a stand alone anime. I would suggest it if you like action but don't really like to invest yourself into series. Have fun!!!

I love Fate/Zero. I went into it almost completely blind, knowing only that the main character is a blond girl and there is magic and Gen Urobuchi involved. That being said, I had no idea what to expect from the show. Wow was I blown away by the amout of awesomeness that was provided to me. The premise could be written off as nothing more than a supernatural fighting show, but it was so much more that that. Even the characters that you might not even like have depth and reasons for their good or evil actions. Their goals become the spring board for major conflicts and every action leads to retrubution. Characters achive their deepest wishes only to have them come crumbling down upon them. Self centered characters devlop for the better, and even the most jaded, unassuming ones can sneak up and steal the spotlight for themselves. Alliances are formed and betrayals rise within the span of an episode. The music and art are both top notch. I encourage anyone who hasen't checked out F/Z yet to, even going in blind, get on it and see the magic for yourself.

Warning: Spoiler Alert

Fate/Zero follows the story of seven mages battling each other to win the prize of the Holy Grail.

They battle for the Holy Grail as it will grant the winner any wish and they battle each other using servants - dead heroes from the past. Yet some are more heroic than others.

My favourites are: Saber - proud, honourable, Rider - confident, brash yet honourable and Lancer - charming and honourable. All three are powerful and skilled champions and I'll hate to see anything bad happen to them. The others include: Assassin - sneaky, devious, Caster - perverse, twisted, sick and Archer - arrogant, spoilt and pompous. I've seen little of Berserker but he is impulsive, sly and disobedient. This four I'm not fussed with at all.

The Holy Grial war is fought in secret between these mages, the outside world is kept in the dark but I must admit, as much as I'm enjoying the anime, the servants and their masters seem to having long conversations than actually getting anywhere in terms of fighting. I've lost count of the number of conversations I've seen between servant and master! It makes me wonder if the writers were trying to fill out the anime so that all fighting occurs next season.

I must also admit that I do like how the anime is not scared to do taboo topics and I like how honourable the first three servants are. I also like finding out about their pasts. Some of the human characters are a bit more complex to understand like Saber's true master and Assassin's.

My favourite moments include Saber and Lancer's fight, Saber putting on her armour, then removing it, Assassin dodging Archer's traps, Lancer and Saber attacking Castor together, Reen destroying Castor's master's bracelet on her own and Saber and Rider attacking Giant Castor.
