By all accounts, Terry Bogard is one of the greatest martial artists in the world... until he goes up against the enigmatic Wolfgang Krauser, a man with the fighting abilities of a demigod. Terry emerges from the fight beaten and humiliated, his best shot not even able to dent Krauser's armor. But more insidious than the physical injuries is the damage to Terry's pride and confidence. Can his brother Andy and friends Joe Higashi and Mai Shiranui help him regain his mental strength and defeat Krauser and his henchmen, or is this the end for Terry's career as a fighter?
For a skilled martial artist like Ryu, nothing is more important than becoming stronger. But strength comes at a price, as Ryu finds out when the evil presense of Akuma, his eternal rival, awakens within him a great and vile power, the "Dark Hadou." As a mysterious scientist emerges with plans to harness the power of the world's strongest fighters, Ryu must confront and destroy this new enemy before all of mankind is enslaved. With the lives of his friends hanging in the balance, can Ryu overcome the evil power within, before it completely consumes him?
Both of these anime deal with martial artists overcoming difficult task to prove to themselves they are worthy of who they are. Street Fighter Alpha follows the story of a man named Ryu strugling to break free from an evil fighting spirit known as the dark hadou which was awoken within him by his arch nemesis Akuma. Definitly a must watch for any martial arts anime fan!
The evil Bison has returned with sinister plans to take over the world using Shadow Law, his nefarious crime syndicate! His cyborg goons are searching the globe to take out any martial artist who might stand in Bison's way -- brainwashing and recruiting those who they defeat. But when Ryu manages to kill one of Bison's prime fighters, Bison discovers Ryu's potential and wants it for his own. Now, with the help of allies who are out for revenge, can Ryu defeat this all-powerful fighting machine before Bison enslaves him as well?
Both of these are 90's martial arts anime that are based on video games. They both are action packed and have a similar feel. If you like one, you will probably like the other.
