Fairy Tail - Reviews

Before I review this, I'm going to say that my opinion is slightly biased.

Fairy Tail is good. Really good. But it has its flaws. Even so, it's one of those animes that makes you shiver with excitement and anticipation before Natsu's next beat down. Having read the manga I can without a doubt say that I know the whole plot. 

I stated it had flaws. Let's expand.

Natsu: Basically every shounen character. It wouldn't be a shounen otherwise. Yes he's feisty, but he cares for his friends. He's not a low point.

A real low point is Laxus, but only at the start of his arc. Towards the end you like him.

Some characters you love to hate. Laxus you hate with a passion and you don't love to hate him. He's unnecessarily angering towards the viewer. I loathed him. And not in a Kishin way, where the character is crazy and quirky enough for you to love your feelings of hatred. I have a Madara hate for him. An absolute burning passion to destroy him (Not unlike Natsu himself.)

Even so, the anime was good, so was the manga. Captivated, I watched the first season, all 49 episodes, in 1 night. Good times. 

To end this review, I'd like to say that the story is actually genuinely good. It twists and turns. Still not as good as some, which blow your mind, but hey, it's an action comedy. That's what shounen is, essentially. People forget that it's COMEDY and hate some anime with a passion. The others are hipster douchebags and live in holes watching anything but SAO, Naruto and One Piece. Over saturation ruins their fedoras, man.

Okay... Where to start. *PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS MY OPINION AND IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THE SAME AS YOURS*

STORY

Personally I liked the story because it didn't stagger to long on one point. It wasn't like they went on a stroll and came back 20 episodes later because they like to talk :| . I found that I had a connection with most of the characters, don't get me wrong, if certain people were to die I'd be like "Ah Whatever" and continue on with my day. I personally liked the ark where Lucy gets kidnapped and a whole lot of other stuff goes down. My favourite part of the story has to be the grand magic games and the *spolers* portal with the dragons. This was one of my favourite arcs because someone actually died for once! People felt emotional. I mean come on! Differnt world Lucy just died because people are greedy, selfish, and stupid. What's better than a really good reason for the good guys to kick butt because someone was just murdered?

The story pacing is good. Don't get me wrong at some points it's just like "OMG! Do something already!" but other than that I think the story and storyline is great.

ANIMATION 

Personally I find the animation great. Of course it's not the best i've seen so it only gets and 8/10 but I didn't put it any lower because it wasn't like when I first watched it I thought to myself "WOW... This anime could use some serious drawing changes." It was just kind of like "could be better, at least it gets better through-out"

In The End

I loved this anime and I think you should watch it.

Ok, I'll try to be a tad less angry when writing this and put it more bluntly.

Fairy Tail could have been good. But just wasn't. Early on, the story doesn't have much of a direction. Take Naruto for instance who wants to be Hokage, thus every journey we have is something that builds to him becoming Hokage. Natsu is different as his goal doesn't seem to built on. Finding Igneel doesn't seem like something that we get closer to through the arcs. This ends up making Natsu less interesting, and it robs Fairy Tail of direction. 

Another poor point, is Mashima's poor planning(?) Or perhaps it's just straight up fan service. Probably a mixture of both. Characters, especially in the final episodes/chapters, are seen doing things they really should not be able to do. I won't spoil, but when a character does something that they have shown no prior skill at, and when there's other characters in the guild that can do the exact job infinitely better than this character can, it really just shows poor writing.

Even in 100 Years, things happen that are contradictory and don't make sense. 

I'll put it this way, what if in Dragon Ball, Goku all of a sudden sprouted wings? Wouldn't make sense. Or what if at some point in Naruto, Kurama magically became able to destroy a universe. Wouldn't make sense. So Fairy Tail has little excuse as well.

There is also the problem of character deaths. Few people die. If you're expecting loss to push characters forward. Yeah don't expect it here. There are a few deaths, but nothing like some anime do. 

Now, one thing this anime DOES do, is have some cool characters. Freed, Ignia, Mavis, Zeref, Mirajane, Mystogan, Rufus, Kagura etc. 

These characters are actually great. And some of them, even more interesting than Natsu.

That being said, some characters that I could have respected, have lost respect due to how they were handled. Either from getting some random bullshit power boost, or from coming back from the dead when it would have served them better to stay dead. 

I honestly liked Fairy Tail when I first watched it. But after looking back, and after watching better anime.

It's just bad.

An anime that has a mix of many elements and is very long. It has a fair amount of comedy, action, adventure, magic and eyecandy moments. There are fillers here as with most anime that run this long, but it is not too bad. Because of the sheer length of this anime, the story will get boring at times but it is decent yet also predictable if you understand the true concept of a guild. Gamers should be a bit more familiar with such an environment and the functions. There is nothing revolutionary here but at the same time it is quite an adventure with some very memorable characters, be it for the looks or skills. It comes down to simplicity and environment. Nothing is complicated or hard to follow and the environment is immersive to where you want to be in it and a part of their guild.

There are a ton of characters, many will appear throughout and have quite different personalities which is what makes it interesting. Again, due to the length you will encounter so many characters that some won't appear often, and certain characters may not get nearly enough screen time as one would like. The one thing to remember is this is about the guild "Fairy Tail" and focused on them, with everyone else being a side aspect of the journey. This holds true when you think of an adventurer who moves from place to place and the guild concept enlisting "quests" to tend to for clients.

With that said, there will be a lot of side episodes or events but they are all part of the life of an adventurer. If anything, these are usually a bit more funny in order to give you a break.

Happy ends up being my most favorite character here, Wendy being the other just because she is that underdog of the group. 

I highly recommend this anime to those who like adventure. The anime grows on you if you get into it. It is in no rush though to go anywhere fast, there will be parts that come off as drawn out. Nontheless, it is an anime that I won't  forget, it burns itself into your mind as you go through all the episodes. It just makes you happy and you can feel the "family" love.

Review of second set of seasons ; Scored 9.5

Story: Crazy action sadness happyness Fighting just everything was great love it alot, in every episode I saw I got that great feeling every time you know that one and the lines that the Voice actors where give to say where out of this world relly well balanced

Animation: dam crazy on the art/Animation super cool seeing it in Blu-Ray dam what a difference it makes dose got for the picture. love how they put alot of time in getting detail in the video nice job

Sound: spot on with the sound had no problem at all

Characters: Two words BAD ASS goty see for your self lol
