F City, F Prefecture: the battleground where good and evil have finally chosen to decide once and for all who will rule the world…or at least that's the general idea! Neither side seems up for the task, as surviving the brutality of everyday life is enough of a chore. On the side of evil is the organization of Across, its only member the loudmouthed and abrasive Excel who struggles just to put food in her stomach; on the side of good, three disenfranchised, unemployed bachelors whose only pursuit in life is romance. Add in alien invasions, jungle warfare, and Mexican immigrant laborers to Japan, and this war doesn't seem likely to be ending soon!
Miki is a psychotic mascot, waitress and delivery girl who works at her equally as frightening mother's ramen shop. Both survivor and instigator of years of ruthless, no-holds-barred domestic violence, Miki has a capacity for destruction usually found only in people with things like "the Impaler" added to their name. Yet, she also has a kind side to her and is often found going implausible distances out of her way to rescue both proverbial and literal lost kittens, though some malignant souls might misconstrue this as merely ditching her work...
Both series are about absolutely nothing. If you like slapstick humor, these are the series for you. The main difference between the two is that while Muteki Kanban Musume seems to have some sort of story, Excel Saga has none and can be described as more random.
Aside from their premises, the characters (Miki and Excel from, respectively, Muteki Kanban Musume and Excel Saga) show a lot of similar characteristics.
Holy hyperactive characters! When I see Miki in action, the first character that comes to mind is Excel and vice versa. Both of these anime seem very fitting of each other in their random yet fun humor and the consistant use of slapstick comedy. Both Excel and Miki suffer from extreme attention span issues witch makes for similar situations (be it Illpalazo and his floor traps with Excel or Miki's mother pummeling her into a wall). Also, both anime seem to have a slight underlining plot, but its not really that relevant to how the show progresses.
Both series pay almost zero attention to a 'main plot'. Also, everything is random, nonsense but extremely funny. If you enjoy an anime that tries to do everything possible to be funny in a sort of violent (especially MKM) and random (especially Excel Saga) way, I recommend you watch both. Also, if you liked the comedy style in one of them, you will most likely enjoy the other.
Muteki and Excel Saga are both over-the-top, high-octane series with extreme comedic appearance changes and hard-to-follow randomness. Plenty of action accompanies both titles as well, plus some pretty abrasive and aggravating main characters. I didn't like either of these, but fans of one will probably appreciate the other.
Ten-year-old genius Chiyo, animal-loving Sakaki, loudmouth Tomo, athletic Kagura, weight-conscious Yomi and dim-witted Osaka are six friends who share laughs, good times, and a high school homeroom. With scary (and sometimes perverted) teachers, school festivals, penguin suits and general hilarity abounding, you can be sure that there's never a dull day in the life of one of these students!
If randomness and funny females are your thing, then both Excel Saga and Azumanga Daioh would be wise choices for your viewing pleasure!
If you enjoy comedy with no real plot than these series are you picks. Both are just fun to watch even though sillyness can get out of hands some time.
It is the year 300X, and the Earth is in peril! Tsuru Tsururiina, the evil dictator of the Margarita Empire has sent his elite troops to Earth to snatch every last hair on the heads of the unsuspecting populace! But there is one man who will stand up against the malicious invasion and save everyone from the terrible horror of baldness: Boboboubo Boubobo! Using his secret art of nose hair combat, Boubobo will not rest until the Margarita forces are gone from Earth for good. But can he succeed without the help of the pink-haired girl Beauty, or the mysterious Pickle that follows him around?
Excel Saga and Bobobo have the same style of comedy; that is to say, they rely on randomness and slapstick to get you to chuckle. The best part about both? It works!
Well they aren't really that similar besides their randomness, and to be honest i thought bobobo was funnier. But if you like shows with superfluous amounts of randoms then you will love bobobo.
At Cromartie High, it’s tough being a delinquent -- a fact that do-gooder Takashi Kamiyama intimately understands. When he’s not engaging in contests of strength and rival gang wars, Kamiyama can also be found submitting punny jokes and planning his own rise to fame within the delinquents’ ranks, and that’s just the beginning! With friends like robotic Mechazawa, a giant gorilla, a hairy man from the 80s named Freddie and a clan of delinquents with mohawks that flow in the wind, how can anyone not enjoy high school?
Very weird things happen in Excel Saga, often they make no sense, but you laugh! The same can be said for Cromartie High School. Both shows share a very wacky sense of humor where things don't always have to follow any rules of logic.
Excel Saga and Cromartie contain a certain penchant for quite bizarre humor. They really shouldn't be funny but they will have you giggling like an idiot on laughing gas.
Can a completely absurd world taken from a well-known manga be extremely fun for 26 episodes, not a single let down?
Well both this amazing show scream out "YES!". Maybe they are not the first choice if your are looking for something to squeeze your grey matter, but rest assured they'll make you laugh until you are breathless... And even beyond that point.
Sousuke Sagara is far from the average high school student - not only is he highly trained in military tactics, he puts his knowledge to use in every single applicable situation (and even those nonapplicable ones.) So, when confronted with high school, he tends to turn average high school experiences into off-the-wall adventures. Love letters become terrorist threats and field trips become commando operations; his survival depends on the watchful eye of his best friend and classmate, Kaname. Together, they may just make it out of high school alive...
Do you like random things that have almost no plot at all?
Excel saga and Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu are series made to make someone laugh; they are almost plotless but not quite, and both have a dose of random happenings and illogical madness.
Just plenty of fun and nonsense for a quick watch you won't regret unless you were also looking for a more thorough and complex show.
Not much mental work, but lots and lots of laugh assured!
Both Anime have a very spastic, random humor that just sends a message straight to your funny bone- Laugh!
