Ramen Fighter Miki

Ramen Fighter Miki

Miki is a psychotic mascot, waitress and delivery girl who works at her equally as frightening mother's ramen shop. Both survivor and instigator of years of ruthless, no-holds-barred domestic violence, Miki has a capacity for destruction usually found only in people with things like "the Impaler" added to their name. Yet, she also has a kind side to her and is often found going implausible distances out of her way to rescue both proverbial and literal lost kittens, though some malignant souls might misconstrue this as merely ditching her work...

Both series are about absolutely nothing. If you like slapstick humor, these are the series for you. The main difference between the two is that while Muteki Kanban Musume seems to have some sort of story, Excel Saga has none and can be described as more random.

Aside from their premises, the characters (Miki and Excel from, respectively, Muteki Kanban Musume and Excel Saga) show a lot of similar characteristics.

Damaged Damaged says...

Holy hyperactive characters! When I see Miki in action, the first character that comes to mind is Excel and vice versa. Both of these anime seem very fitting of each other in their random yet fun humor and the consistant use of slapstick comedy. Both Excel and Miki suffer from extreme attention span issues witch makes for similar situations (be it Illpalazo and his floor traps with Excel or Miki's mother pummeling her into a wall). Also, both anime seem to have a slight underlining plot, but its not really that relevant to how the show progresses.

x5ga x5ga says...

Both series pay almost zero attention to a 'main plot'. Also, everything is random, nonsense but extremely funny. If you enjoy an anime that tries to do everything possible to be funny in a sort of violent (especially MKM) and random (especially Excel Saga) way, I recommend you watch both. Also, if you liked the comedy style in one of them, you will most likely enjoy the other.

sothis sothis says...

Muteki and Excel Saga are both over-the-top, high-octane series with extreme comedic appearance changes and hard-to-follow randomness. Plenty of action accompanies both titles as well, plus some pretty abrasive and aggravating main characters. I didn't like either of these, but fans of one will probably appreciate the other.

Azumanga Daioh

Azumanga Daioh

Ten-year-old genius Chiyo, animal-loving Sakaki, loudmouth Tomo, athletic Kagura, weight-conscious Yomi and dim-witted Osaka are six friends who share laughs, good times, and a high school homeroom. With scary (and sometimes perverted) teachers, school festivals, penguin suits and general hilarity abounding, you can be sure that there's never a dull day in the life of one of these students!

Frost Frost says...

While the storyline and general plot is much more coherent than in Excel Saga, Azumanga Daioh uses a lot of between-character jokes that would be right at home in Excel Saga. They're a bit more subtle and not quite as spectacular, given that a certain level of realism needs to be maintained in Azumanga, but if you liked Excel Saga, you'll also like this one.

Sangokagome Sangokagome says...

If randomness and funny females are your thing, then both Excel Saga and Azumanga Daioh would be wise choices for your viewing pleasure!

If you enjoy comedy with no real plot than these series are you picks. Both are just fun to watch even though sillyness can get out of hands some time.

Both Excel Saga and Galaxy Angel can be seen as parodies, since they both handle absurd and random subjects. In addition almost all episodes are unrelated to eachother, making it structually the same too.

NekoRocket NekoRocket says...

Excel Saga and Galaxy Angel certainly don't suffer from a lack of humor. You'll find that the frantic pace and inplausible situations that arise will keep you laughing, as you watch some of the most energetic heroines to grace your TV/monitor. The somewhat perverted comedy keys these series for adults.

HolyGoof HolyGoof says...

Both are pretty much crazy nonsense with no real fixed storyline. The brightly coloured fast moving animation style works well in both series'.

Wacky humour and insanity are the common denominators here. Both these titles fit the epitome of gag anime - you'll find anything from sentient pickles to gatling gun-toting puppies in these series, with plenty of laughs in between. They both have an overall plot, and though Excel Saga does a better job of staying consistent and using its story to its advantage, Boubobo can deviate heavily from it in the cause of hilarity.

Sangokagome Sangokagome says...

Excel Saga and Bobobo have the same style of comedy; that is to say, they rely on randomness and slapstick to get you to chuckle. The best part about both? It works!

animelover121 animelover121 says...

Well they aren't really that similar besides their randomness, and to be honest i thought bobobo was funnier.  But if you like shows with superfluous amounts of randoms then you will love bobobo.

Cromartie High School

Cromartie High School

At Cromartie High, it’s tough being a delinquent -- a fact that do-gooder Takashi Kamiyama intimately understands. When he’s not engaging in contests of strength and rival gang wars, Kamiyama can also be found submitting punny jokes and planning his own rise to fame within the delinquents’ ranks, and that’s just the beginning! With friends like robotic Mechazawa, a giant gorilla, a hairy man from the 80s named Freddie and a clan of delinquents with mohawks that flow in the wind, how can anyone not enjoy high school?

Very weird things happen in Excel Saga, often they make no sense, but you laugh! The same can be said for Cromartie High School. Both shows share a very wacky sense of humor where things don't always have to follow any rules of logic.

dgsub dgsub says...

Excel Saga and Cromartie contain a certain penchant for quite bizarre humor. They really shouldn't be funny but they will have you giggling like an idiot on laughing gas.

Ajna Ajna says...

Can a completely absurd world taken from a well-known manga be extremely fun for 26 episodes, not a single let down?

Well both this amazing show scream out "YES!". Maybe they are not the first choice if your are looking for something to squeeze your grey matter, but rest assured they'll make you laugh until you are breathless... And even beyond that point.

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu

Sousuke Sagara is far from the average high school student - not only is he highly trained in military tactics, he puts his knowledge to use in every single applicable situation (and even those nonapplicable ones.) So, when confronted with high school, he tends to turn average high school experiences into off-the-wall adventures. Love letters become terrorist threats and field trips become commando operations; his survival depends on the watchful eye of his best friend and classmate, Kaname. Together, they may just make it out of high school alive...

Excel saga and Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu are series made to make someone laugh; they are almost plotless but not quite, and both have a dose of random happenings and illogical madness.

Ajna Ajna says...

Just plenty of fun and nonsense for a quick watch you won't regret unless you were also looking for a more thorough and complex show.

Not much mental work, but lots and lots of laugh assured!

"Nabeshin" reappear in this anime. This time, he's a rental guy who give support to the Nerima Daikon Bros in exchange for them to sing a song. If you like the work of the director of Excel Saga, Watanabe Shinichi, alias Nabeshin, you will surely appreciate this anime too. The absurd comedy side of this anime is really like Excel Saga.

ITGZachATTACK ITGZachATTACK says...

Both have the same random humor that is key to Shinichi Watanabe's directional style (Did I mention they both have Nabeshin as a character?)

Starletka Starletka says...

To put it simply: Nerima Daikon Brothers is like a musical version of Excel Saga. Similar animation and humour, similar quirky characters. Both have Nabeshin.

While Those Who Hunt Elves sticks more to spoofing fantasy, while Excel goes on to spoof all the major genre's. If you liked the wierdness of Excel, or if you're just fond of laughing, I highly recommend this series for you.

The crazy things and people in Excel Saga will laugh you to your grave, and just as funny as they are, are the crazy antics of the odd group called Those Who Hunt Elves will bounce you right back out. It's hard to say which one is better, as Those Who Hunt Elves is shorter and has a plot that makes sense, while Excel Saga is just plain wacky. Either way, if you like one you'll like both.

Kodocha

Kodocha

11 year-old Sana Kurata is a positive, upbeat child actress with a rather odd life. She was adopted as a baby by an eccentric novelist who wears a live squirrel in her hair, her acting career is managed by a (former) homeless man who Sana unabashedly claims is her "gigalo", and at school her teacher has completely lost control of her classroom due to a group of blackmailing bullies led by "demon child" Akito Hayama. With her whole class in danger of failing, Sana decides she's had enough of Akito's nonsense at school and challenges him. The whole school is ready for a showdown as these strong personalities collide, but as the two very different kids learn more about each other, something unexpected happens. Is it possible for sworn enemies to become fast friends?

Kodocha and Excel are both anime on crystal meth, featuring tons of ultra-fast talking, bizzare madcap action and plenty of exaggerated manga facial expressions. Excel is a big deliberate parody of anime, and Kodocha is just... Kodocha. Those liking their anime comedies with a side of extra craziness should watch both.

TheHermit TheHermit says...

It's hard not to notice the similarities between the two heroines: rambunctious, motor-mouthed balls of energy that keep everyone else on their back heels. Both shows have a similarly bizarre sense of humor and manic pace, though Kodocha eventually branches out to drama while Excel Saga is happy to remain an amped-up crack-fest throughout.

Martian Successor Nadesico

Martian Successor Nadesico

When Akito Tenkawa went looking for answers about his parents' deaths, he had no idea that he'd be indoctrinated into the spaceship Nadesico not only as a cook, but also as a mecha pilot – a job he wants nothing to do with! Alongside his childhood friend Yurika, stoic Ruri, otaku Gai and other misfit crewmates, Akito and the Nadesico crew find themselves in the middle of a brutal war against both the dreaded Jovian Lizards, and the military itself, who wants the civilian ship under their control...

MaximusThrax MaximusThrax says...

Both these series are comedies which spend a lot of time mocking the anime/manga genre. The craziness that is Excel Saga is a more deliberate parody, with episodes often parody a specific theme, like dating sims. Nadesico is a mecha/spaceship show and does have a real plot, although it, too, mocks many anime conventions. Both shows are strongly recommended for those who've aleady seen a lot of anime and will thus get more of the references.

chii chii says...

Both are wonderful parody anime with a nice story of their own to go with making fun of other anime inbetween. Excel Saga makes fun of pretty much all genera's where Nadesico focuses more on Space and Mecca's. If you liked one check out the other.
