Mecha animes are timeless, while Gasaraki is set in modern times, while Escanflowne in more medival. Both of these animes are great to watch. Gasaraki is more of a political anime, showing the strategic use of mecha. Both animes main characters are tied together in almost the same fashion, with an action anime turning into a romance, I highly suggest you watch both these animes.

At first sight Escaflowne and Gedo Senki might not have too much resemblance apart from a similar feeling, still in both heroes struggle either with transgress their human forms or facing their own feelings and attitudes to neither perish as individuals nor inflict harm to the people they love.

Both Escaflowne and Good Witch have the same theme of an ordinary girl being dragged into something extraordinary. Also, both have the feeling of a world with older belief systems which are almost medieval.

Both anime tell the story of a normal girl who suddenly becomes a key character in a conflict between two forces, and will have to do her best to protect the world with all her strength. Escaflowne is much longer and more complex, though.

Heat Guy J and Escaflowne not only are made by the same studio, but have a very similar feel. Both shows have great twists and turns in the plot, with characters who you never sure where they will eventually side with. While Escaflowne focuses more on romance, Heat Guy J is all about the action. Character development is top notch in both shows, particularly with Dilandau and Clair. Whether you're looking for action, deep characters, or even a little bit of romance, both shows are top notch and perfect for anyone.
