The story of Yu Himura and Yuko Amamiya’s relationship is troubled and complex. One day, Yuko showed up at Yu's high school and, despite the two not having seen one another for ten years, confessed that Yu was her first love and still loves him. In the present, Mizuki Hayama moves in with her cousin as she prepares to begin high school. She meets his smooth and handsome neighbor, Shuichi Kuze, and begins spending increasing amounts of time with him; they begin to fall for one another despite their age difference. The tale of these relationships thus begins to unfold.
Tomoya Okazaki is a third-year high school student who is generally bored with life and doesn't take his studies, future, or anything else seriously. One day, however, he meets a lonely-looking girl in the school courtyard, Nagisa Furukawa. She explains to him the source of her loneliness: she had missed a lot of the previous school year and thus is repeating her third year; everybody that she knew has already graduated, and she is lonely. Tomoya is rather indifferent at first, but decides that he has nothing better to do and spends increasingly more time helping Nagisa restore the school drama club. As his relationship with Nagisa grows, Tomoya begins to open up to various other people around the school as well...
If you enjoyed the romance and great character development in ef, you'll definitely enjoy Clannad. Many of the same themes run throughout both of these anime and they are both great series based on very popular H-games.
Summer break is now over; the second semester has started for Tomoya, Nagisa and the others, and little has changed. Since Tomoya's relationship with his father is still troubled, he continues to live with Nagisa and her family, even if it means getting roped into organizing a baseball team for the family bakery. Life at school continues as normal with Sunohara as carefree as ever; however, when his sister Mei voices her concerns about him, the series of events that follow place a strain on Sunohara and Tomoya’s friendship. Whether it's saving a person from themselves or passing on a message from the past, one thing’s for sure: no matter how tough things get, good friends will always be there to help out.
both have a great story full of emotions and romance... funny and sad in the same time... both have a great animation and both are full of cute girls xP
While Takemoto uncovers a path for himself, his love for Hagu is forcing him to lead a difficult college life. Takemoto, Hagu, and Morita are still trying to deal with their love triangle, and each of them must make a decision. Furthermore, Mayama must decide how to proceed with Rika, as she is leaving for Spain. The pain of love will continue to hurt many and even cause them to separate. Now, each of them must take on their chosen paths and walk towards the future.
One has a happy ending, another, not so happy, but both are great tales of love. Sure to enjoy both.

Both stories are full of romance as well as pain and sufferring. Both series are intended for mature audiences.
Sorata Kanda has a real problem - he just can't say no to the cute face of a kitten! However, his lovely strays have finally landed him in trouble, as his dorm doesn't allow keeping pets. Given an ultimatum to get rid of the cats or move out, Sorata makes the mistake of standing up for himself and finds himself exiled to Sakurasou, the home of misfits the school doesn't know what to do with. Yet the more he spends time there, Sorata sees they all have their own incredible talents. None, however, enthralls him more than the latest arrival: Mashiro Shiina, a world class artist who is seemingly incapable of feeding or clothing herself! Since none of the other residents have a shred of responsibility, the onus of 'Mashiro Duty' falls to Sorata; what will become of Sorata and his latest stray, and will he ever achieve his goal of escaping Sakurasou?
Both Melodies and Memories have a lot in common with this anime. They are both beautiful stories that start off with the every day character and bring you into a world of drama and love that can't be simply described. Sakurasou has a wider range of emotions with mostly love and passion, where ef has more heartbreak and sadness. Both of them keep you anchore din your seat with a unique sense of always being emotionally moved in every episode which is strange, because the whoel epsiode isn't simply Drama, there is much mroe to it, yet somehow even in the smiling happy moments and the everyday things you keep feeling strongly for the anime; you never ever feel bored. You find yourself sitting with the characters, begging them to make the next move or cheering for their successes and crying for their failures. I can't simply reccomend one over the other so watch them both as they will completely woo any true Drama/Romance fans.
