Well you wonder what might these two have in common, huh? well, think of a brilliant idea animated in a bold, creative way. Call it out of the ordinary. Both Paprika and Durarara!! keep you on your toes and in awe for the brilliant story and animation. Even though Durarara!!s ending is disappointing and not in the spirit of the first part, it manages to rise to the level of entertainment Paprika is.

Hyouka

Hyouka

"If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I do have to do it, make it quick," is the basic principle by which energy conservationist Houtarou Oreki lives. But after his sister convinces him to join the Classics Club, Houtarou's life is turned upside down when he meets Chitanda, a perpetually-inquisitive girl who challenges the boy's easygoing existence. Intrigued by the slightest hint of a mystery afoot, Chitanda doesn't hesitate to pester the reluctant yet highly analytical Houtarou into satisfying her curiosity at every turn, no matter how small the problem. Alongside fellow members Satoshi and Ibara, the group tackles cases ranging from a self-locking classroom door, a strangely-popular library book, and even the shadowy history of the very club to which they belong!

These two have more than awesome animation and music. Also, the moods of both anime sit well with each other. The characters are simmilar in both growth and design, and the urban mystery and everyday life intertwine marvelously together. Basically, if you like one, the other one is a strong recommendation - you will not regret it! :)

The settings and plots are extremely different between these two anime, but if you enjoyed the unique vibe of Durarara!!, you should thoroughly enjoy the artistry and individuality of From the New World. The theme of things-are-not-always-as-they-seem is also carried over.

If you liked the series Durarara!! then I recommend you check out the movie Tekkon Kinkreet.  Although both are very different in style, both are similar thematically, dealing with a superficial storyline about gang relations and both share a similar atmosphere.  There are deeper currents below the surface of both of these anime and although the darker elements are there, neither anime really beats you over the head to demonstrate the point.  The point is made, rather, by events unfurling and by watching what develops around the characters.  If you enjoyed the movie for a more extended visit to a similar place check out the series.

Blast of Tempest

Blast of Tempest

Hakaze, princess of the Kusaribe mage clan, has been betrayed and marooned on an island by her own people. Her call reaches Mahiro Fuwa, a young man grieving the mysterious death of his sister, Aika. He and his friend Yoshino agree to help - on the condition that Hakaze track down Aika's killer with her magic. The deal is made, and the battle that will determine civilization's fate is begun: but who will play the part of its villain, and who its savior?

Both animes revolve around secrets between friends that will lead to endeavors in their lives. Both animes also revolve around 2 male protagonists and one female protagonist. While Durarara!! is based more around a normal human life (to an extent), Blast on Tempest is about these protagonists saving the world while trying to understand themselves. They both have humor but, Blast on Tempest has more intellectual humor to it.

Noragami

Noragami

Yato, the supposed God of Calamity, is so far down on the Shinto totem pole that he doesn't even have any followers or a shrine to call his own and has to do odd jobs to make ends meet. Worst of all, his aloof and somewhat goofy personality has just cost him his newest partner and best holy weapon. When the down-on-his-luck Yato is saved by an unfortunate soul called Hiyori, he's forced to take on a brand new job - to turn her back into a human and fix her supernatural out-of-body experiences! Can Yato, a Regalia-less, miserly minor god, even attempt such a tall order? And is there more to him than his ridiculousness lets on?

Both series involve main characters whose personalities and past aren't what they initially appear to be. While Durarara has a slightly darker (and more faceted) story, both animes have supernatural aspects in the setting of a modern day world.

And their opening songs have a similar music style.

If you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Cool, fun visuals and characters that are well developed. Quite dark, but has it's humerous moments.

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation

Japan's hottest service is Nicaea, a website that sends your friends a picture of your death before it happens. Daichi and Hibiki are two teens who didn't expect Nicaea to actually be real – that is, until the boys receive an email about their demise, and die shortly after. On the brink of going to the beyond they're given a choice: expire, or have a second chance at life. And so the two awaken to discover the city's been destroyed and they now have the ability to summon demons – an ability that a secretive branch of the government insists they use to help combat an imminent threat. For unless summoners like the teens put a stop to otherworldly invaders destroying the planet, the world will soon disappear...

These two shows aren't really similar story-like, but they both have that same ''large city'' setting. Also the main protagonists are a group of teenage people.

The main groups in both shows are somewhat similar (1 ''normal'' guy, 1 hyped, full of personality guy and a shy girl with big breasts). So if you liked either DRRR!! you might like DS2 and vice versa.

Soul Eater is as funny and full of nonsense as Durarara! Anyway I love both of them *.* You know, in Durarara! is violent pacifist, then in Soul Eater is loud assassin and not symmetrical symmetry lover xD By the way Shizy-chan vs Black Star? I guess Shizuo is gonna win -.- xD
