White Dragon Clan babies are born with a jewel.  The color of the jewel determines their position. Fei Long came into the world without the jewel guaranteeing him the chief title. Sent to Japan to learn about strength, he encounters a female. What’s gonna happen? Pretty dang predictable stuff: Father expectations aren’t in line with his child’s. Typical girl-guy meet; girl’s being harassed, guy steps in. Childhood friend kept an important secret. Monologuing villain. Parental infidelity leads to mentally unstable offspring. Whenever a character cries they get comforted. Fuyuka {girl} viewed as a burden and is constantly needing rescue. Fei Long talks to Sugiura [Protagonist listens to antagonist share their sorrow-story] Fei Long kills someone by accident. Problem: Vocal background music, it’s meant to accent what the characters are doing so having it barely audible is a poor choice. *Lyrics on screen with translation = good choice. **Lyrics themself are good and the melody/instrumental accompaniments works well. Overall there are a lot of unlikeable things about this 40 minute OVA and it was probably made to get people interested in the manga. Since there are 14 volumes there’s gotta be a lot more story to sink one’s teeth into. Unless it was intended to quickly summaries the manga and give the fans something moving to look at. This review is not sure. “People meet to part” “I will always hold you in my heart” “Forever” It’s worth it for the music in this reviewer's opinion but the story needed more fleshing out.
