Five years have passed since Goku and his friends defeated Piccolo Jr. and restored peace to the planet. Gohan - Goku's son - and a variety of good, bad, and morally ambiguous characters are back, and perpetually not ready for action! Aliens, androids, and magicians all hatch evil plots to destroy the world and it's up to Goku to save the Earth once more - that is, once he and his comrades train plentifully in preparation. Enemies will become friends and power levels will rise to unimaginable levels, but even with the help of the legendary Dragon Balls and Shen Long will it be enough to save Earth from ultimate destruction?
Naruto Uzumaki is a young ninja who bears a great power hidden inside him, a power that has isolated him from the rest of his village. As such, his only dream is to become the Hokage - the most powerful ninja, and leader of the village; but first he needs to graduate! With his inability to perform even the most basic ninja techniques, it seems that all Naruto has going for him is his determination to succeed no matter what. Teamed up with the genius Sasuke, book-smart Sakura, and their team leader Kakashi, Naruto embarks on his quest to become the Hokage. But with outside forces posing a threat to the entire Hidden Leaf village, Naruto discovers that he must become much stronger if he ever wants to realize his dream and protect the friendships he's forged.
I once heard Naruto being labelled as the 'new Dragon Ball Z', probably because of the similar action themes, and the lengths of the shows. It is relatively easy to see the similarities between them, anyway.
Naruto and DBZ are power up-oriented action shows where the hero changes or defeats everyone around them through sheer determination and an unreasonably optimistic mindset. They are light and entertaining.
It is series like these that end up being great 'gateway drug' for newcomers and anime junkies alike.
If you like episodic fights that keep you captivated and a lot of "cliff-hanger" episode endings that leave you wanting 'more'. This series is for you.
Action, Action, Action. If your looking for martial arts with superhuman abilities than these series are perfect. If you liked one, you'd surely like the other.
Ok, the creator of Naruto himself told us he loved how the story of DBZ was put in, especially the character that is Goku and all the secrets that surround him. And that's pretty easy to notice in how Naruto was done.
2 boys with low experience at first, but with a dark past, a secret one, even to the boys themselves, that finally is turned up as the series progress. And it is that link, between the 2 boys and their past, that moves the story.
Their powers soon grow up as they save their friends and go through a lot of adventures with a lot of other characters that do have a good charisma and always are related to the boy themselves, but never get the same attention as the 2 boys.
Is Naruto the new DBZ? No, DBZ is pretty unique, Naruto has his own story, and will be remembered as such, not as a story that was actually made up from DBZ. They are both great shows, not with a great story compared with other animes, but the rest makes up for it.
Fighting, talking about friendship, fighting, rescuing the village, fighting, rescuing the world, fighting. Yea that's about it in both shows. Well, ok there's a bit more but really nothing THAT good. I guess they both have the same kind of character development slow(200+ eps) but kinda effective (Gaara, Vegeta).
These series are filled with nonstop & intense action, that would make you keep on watching for hours. DBZ is the pinnacle of all action anime. In other words, it began the popular trend anime all over the world.
Well this isnt something unexpected. These 2 anime are veeery similar, but i admit, not the same. First and foremost similarity is that they have almost the same number of series, both tending to end the serie at the most crucial moments so you have to wait for another week to see what will happen next only to find the next episode more interesting than the last, and of course, also ended at the most important moment. Iritating isnt it? Well, in these 2 cases (and of course, in my opinion) absolutely not! Both are about fighters using their inner power to overcome their rivals, to save the day,a friend or a lady. In both anime you get the feeling what most cherished charasteristics in Japans culture are - hard-work and determination over pure natural talent and vanity. Thats why i love them both. If you like Naruto, you may like Dragon Ball Z, if you like Dragon Ball Z you will love Naruto.
If you like action/adventure, and fighs that can take many eipsodes to finish the either of these will do for you! Both hero's must get stronger to protect others.
If you like action, adventure, hero's, and fighting then you will love this!
i think that if you like dbz u will like naruto, because to me they both are like the same show like fights are alot the same and ya
If you could watch all of the DBZ episodes and weren't bored with the long fighting scenes, you will find Naruto fantastic. Naruto gives the same epic feel as DBZ does, but Naruto just gives so much more than that aswell. Naruto is probably a more mature anime. You'll encounter a lot of sadness and tears in the story and hopefully, shead some tears youself. Naruto has a great soundtrack too, which makes the scenes much more exiting. But what are you doing here still reading!? Go watch that anime!
Both involve ultra-long winded fights with all the usual cliches.
Both start off very strong but both become over-come with stupid plot twists and endless filler later on. By that time you'll be hocked though. :P
Though if "fighting" seems even vaguely interesting you could do so much worse.
As a note, Naruto is heavier on filler and DBZ is heavier on dragging fights on.
Yusuke Urameshi was a normal middle school punk until he was hit andkilled by a car, while saving a child. His selfless action earned him theright to gain his life back and serve as a detective of the spiritworld, keeping the world of the living safe from a myriad of demons. But being reborn has its price: Yusuke must hatch a spirit beast that will develop according to his actions, and if he doesn't act in a good and honestmanner, it will eat his soul. Can Yusuke protect the human and spiritworlds and still manage to save himself in the process?
DBZ has less of a story than Yu Yu Hakusho, but the fights are somewhat the same. Since Yu Yu Hakusho is also based on DBZ the chances of someone liking both are extremely high.
Yu Yu Hakusho and DBZ both focus on rock smashing, ground shaking fights between the good and bad guys, without too much concern for the actual story.
Are big fights, much training, and super strong characters who can never seem to stay dead what you liked in DBZ? Then you might like Yu Yu Hakusho as well.
If you like Dragon Ball Z then you'll love Yu Yu Hakusho. In both series the main character has superpowers and uses them to fight evil in order to save those close to him and the entire world. Also, in both anime the main characters have a group of tremendously strong friends who never seem to be able to reach the power level of the protagonist. But, the one thing in Yu Yu Hakusho that will endear it to you is that unlike in Dragon Ball Z, the characters don't waste 100 hours talking before a fight starts; that's really what makes Yu Yu Hakusho a better watch.
If you're looking for awesome action then DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho are for you. While DBZ in my opinion is lacking the more intense story line that draws you in that Yu Yu Hakusho has, it still has a decent story line that seems to constantly repeat itself: that, of course, would be saving the world from amazingly strong badasses. Overall they're both great shows that you'll definitely enjoy if you like action.
dragon ball z and yu yu hakusho the hero has special powers dragon ball z has goku with his energy blasts and yu yu hakusho has yuskei with his spirit energy they both visit the afterlife as yuskei gains his powers from their and both visit king yenmas palace the only thing is as goku gains the ability to increase his power early from his Kaioken to his super saiyen 1, 2 and finaly super saiyen 3 while yuske has only near the end his demon form
If you liked the adventure of DBZ, you're sure to enjoy Yu Yu Hakusho, too. Similar to DBZ, YYH follows the story of a character, Yusuke, who must fight various enemines to save his friends/the world/etc. and matures as person along the way, just as Goku does in DBZ. The supporting cast of characters is enjoyable in YYH as well. Yusuke's high school friends and fellow fighters help make the show enjoyable just as the 'Z Team' did for DBZ.
Ichigo, an ordinary high school student who is tough in a fight has just one unusual trait -- he can see ghosts. One day he is attacked by a hollow, a vengeful spirit, which would have killed him except that he was saved by a girl named Rukia. She is a Shinigami, a guide to the afterlife and slayer of evil spirits. Unfortunately many hollows want to devour his spiritual power and Rukia is hurt fighting to protect him. After giving her powers to Ichigo so he can save himself, she finds she can't take them back. Now Ichigo has to do her job. He is now a student -- and Shinigami!
Do you like cool fights with extremely powerful people, comedy mixed in, heroes overcoming the impossible, and a lot of talking before and after a big fight? DBZ and Bleach are two long and serious series that share many similarities! If you liked one then you might enjoy the other.
Bleach and DBZ are power up-oriented action shows where the hero changes or defeats everyone around them through sheer determination and an unreasonably optimistic mindset. They are light and entertaining.
The main character in both series have very similiar personalites. Goku and Ichigo are both kind of thick headed and both can be pretty funny at times. Like DBZ, Bleach deals with lots of fightning.
The main reason I'm rec'ing this is the same reason I've watched both animes. 2 boys, with unknown powers, but that are soon discovered as they go on in a whole new adventure and with a whole new set of characters as the story progress. Bleach's story is somehow more interesting and touching, but you can never forger how the action goes in DBZ, though Bleach is not really concerned on the battles itself, but on the reasons behind the battles and the characters involved in them. DBZ is pure action.
Even though Bleach has a higher concern on it's story, both are action animes with a very similar style. The fight scenes share many similarities as to the way the characters fight, they powers and even the long talks during them (which is kind of annoying).
Besides, both animes show people trying to overcome their own limits in order to defeat increasingly powerful foes.
Though having more to do with sword-fighting than Dragonball Z's ki energy blasts, Bleach delivers some awesome action scenes, with an awesome storyline, and fantastic characters, each unique in so many ways. The humor is hilarious and the characters unbelievable, but still so awesome!
I would say Bleach is like a more up to date Dragonball Z.
Whilst Bleach doesn't focus of fighting with fists, it still retains alot of the original form that DBZ has.
Dragonball Z fights mainly with Ki and fists whereas Bleach uses a Zanpaktou (Katana) and something similar to ki called Kidou.
If you want to watch an anime which is similar to this one, with comedy, fighting and many other issues, then this is a must see for you.
Bleach and DBZ have a lot in common...
Basicly Bleach is DBZ with swords and a better plot. A lot of fighting, good against evil but put in a normal world (not like DBZ-World filled with dinosaurs and what not). Another connection is the outer world in which the protagonists end up in bouth shows. The main protagonists are bouth extremly talented in fighting and learn real fast everything that most fighters needed years to learn.
Long ago the infamous Gol D. Roger was the strongest and most powerful pirate on the seas. As he was about to be executed he revealed that he hid all of his wealth, including the legendary treasure known as One Piece, on an island at the end of the Grand Line - a treacherous and truly unpredictable sea. Monkey D. Luffy is a spirited, energetic and somewhat dim-witted young man with a very big dream: to find One Piece and become the Pirate King! However Luffy is no ordinary boy, as when he was younger he ate one of the Devil's Fruits and gained its power to become a Rubber Man. Now in this grand age of pirates Luffy sets out to gather a crew and sail to the most dangerous sea in the world so that he can fulfill his dream... and maybe even his appetite!
Almost any pure shonen anime will sit well with a DBZ fan but OP's protagnist, Luffy, shares many traits with Goku. A love for food, good times, and the will to fight when what they value most (those he loves) are in danger.
Two and a half years have passed since the end of Naruto’s old adventures. He has trained hard with Jiraiya-sama and has returned to Konoha to reuinite with his friends; but Akatsuki, the organization that threatened Naruto years before, is on the move again and this time Naruto is not the only one in danger. With the powerful Akatsuki organization looming ahead of him, Sasuke still missing, and the struggle with the beast hidden inside him a continuous battle, will Naruto's hard-earned improvements be enough? Join Naruto, Sakura, new friends and the rest of the old gang as the action heats up with new techniques and stronger enemies.
If you're a fan of Dragon Ball Z you're going to love Naruto Shippuuden. Like DBZ, Naruto Shippuuden is the continuation of an earlier series. Like Goku, Uzamaki Naruto plans to be the strongest fighter and begins on his journey. Naruto and Goku are almost identical in that they both fight for to protect their friends, and each of them has the dream of being the strongest. Probably their most important similarity is that they never give up. So if you loved the action from Dragon Ball Z you should most definitely see Naruto Shippuuden.
Both Dragon Ball Z and Naruto Shippuuden are based on training, fighting, and showing the results of the fights. The enemies are from different worlds, and as the main characters grow stronger, friends become enemies and enemies become friends. If you liked one try the other.
It is series like these that end up being great 'gateway drug' for newcomers and anime junkies alike.
If you like episodic fights that keep you captivated and a lot of "cliff-hanger" episode endings that leave you wanting 'more'. This series is for you.
Much like Dragonball Z, Shippuuden shows a grown-up, though still obnoxious, teenage Naruto after 2 and 1/2 years of training coming back to Konoha to help fight off Akatsuki and rescue his friend Sasuke with the help of many old friends, and the help of some new ones.
Akatsuki's members get more introduced and take a more dominate role than in the original Naruto series this time around, great action-packed fights will come in this series!
