These two have very different plots but what makes them similar is their ultra violence and generally trashy tone. Full of violence, senseless gore and tons of action. Both have horrendous 90s dubs to laugh at as well.

Although the plots are different they do share the fact that the story is convoluted and completely ridiculous with most of the scenes making little sense in context to what is going on overall.

If you want some gore, some boob and lots of action then check out either of these titles.

Battle Royal High School

Battle Royal High School
  • OVA (1 ep x 60 min)
  • 1987

Hyoudo is a ‘typical' high school boy who carries out his martial arts battles wearing a jaguar mask. However, there's more to Hyoudo than meets the eye - he's also the counterpart to a Demon Master named Byoudo from the dark realm, and soon comes to be possessed by the evil force! As if that isn't strange enough, there's also an evil Fairy Master whose goal is to spread her nests of bloodthirsty offspring, a pair of space time continuum enforcers, a sword-slinging demon hunter and tentacle monsters galore. Will the Demon Master Byoudo or Fairy Master succeed in taking over Earth, or can they be stopped?

These are both action horror anime with terrible dubs and tons of violence, gore and nudity. The plots are quite different but neither anime really focuses much on their silly barely comprehensible story. Instead the plots of both these anime are mere excuses to show more action, blood and guts.

Both these anime fall squarely in the so bad they're good category. If you're looking to laugh at some dated, mindless with completely random plots then check out these titles.

Demon City Shinjuku

Demon City Shinjuku
  • Movie (1 ep x 80 min)
  • 1988

Years ago, a great unholy rift opened in the center of Tokyo, turning Shinjuku into a demon-infested slum. At that time, a great warrior fought their leader, but was defeated. Now, the unholy forces reach out, targeting the one man who can bring peace to the war-torn world... a young boy must now do what his father could not--defeat the evil that lives inside Demon City Shinjuku!

ZetsubouKaiji

Violent horror anime that even share a similar plot. Both anime have the protagonists trying to save a city from the villain. In Doomed the city hasn't been destroyed yet and Demon City the city has already been infested with demons.

Both these anime are full of action with plots that are only there to link the scenes together. They are complete with horrible 90s dubs that are laugable. If you're looking for schlocky horror titles then you can't go wrong with either of these anime.

Wicked City

Wicked City
  • Movie (1 ep x 82 min)
  • 1987

In the near future, the human world exists parallel to a parallel world of demons and dark magic. The two have long abided by an uneasy peace treaty, but its time is almost up, and a new one has to be negotiated. Now, two agents--a top human agent and a beautiful assassin from the other world--must protect the only man who can seal the treaty from dark world renegades or die trying!

These are both well animated 90s style anime with tons of action and gore. They are both horror stories even if the plots are very different. They both have that early 90s feeling of schlock titles that OVAs and movies had at that time. They are ultra violent with sex, nudity and a general trashy feeling to them.

Doomed Megalopolis has a much more convoluted and silly plot because it's longer than Wicked City, but otherwise they are very similar in tone and general atmosphere.
