If you liked the Dirty Pair anime, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
Many years in the future, crime is out of hand. In order keep the city safe, the Tank Police were created. The Tank Police are an elite unit that uses massive tanks to bring criminals to justice, yet many feel they do more damage than they are worth. Leona is a rookie, and within her first few days on the force she is already knee-deep in trouble.
Girls, guns and plenty of destruction. That pretty much sums up both Dirty Pair and Dominion Tank Police (though the later has plenty of male characters too).
Really, if you enjoyed one of these and are in the mood for more mayhem, try the other on for size.
The future of humanity is in peril, as they are confronted with the threat of an intergalactic clash with a warrior-like alien race, and the only one who can save them is... Captain Tylor?! Join a crew of misfits and rejects including an alcoholic doctor, a gorgeous nurse, an anal-retentive commander and a bunch of really stupid marines as they try to make it out in space and to discover whether their captain is a misunderstood genius or a total moron like he seems to be.
These two are old school sci-fi space comedies. With high production values these were popular in their time and still hold up today. Protagonists Kei and Tylor have many similarities despite a difference in gender.
In the distant future many things have changed. Worlds are colonized and people travel the stars freely. The GOTT (Galactic Organization of Trades and Tarifs) exists to maintain order and peace along the galaxies. Enter two ES members. Eclair and Lumiere. They are sent on missions to keep the universal peace, under the flag of GOTT. But soon they come to realize that there is more going on behind the scenes than they previously imagined...
If you like the super tech tripped out worlds visited by the Lovely Angels, you may want to check out Kiddy Grade. It's similar in that both have sci fi special ops departments, and hardcore lady duos. If you're a fan of the Dirty Pair franchise, this nano-infused anime should certainly wet your pallet.
Welcome to the Miami Police department, a place where the afro is in style and trigger-happy policemen (and women) reside, including the borderline clinically insane Yao Sakurakouj! With a wealthy father who gives her money at the drop of a hat, there’s nothing stopping her from buying banks just to blow them up, and other destructive behaviors. Luckily, on the force she’s not alone due to her quiet introvert partner Lu Amano, who is everything Yao isn't. Together, this dysfunctional pair does their best in cleaning up the neighborhood from whatever might occur!
Dirty Pair and Miami Guns features a dysfunctional partnership, outlandish problems to solve, and plenty of destruction. Our dynamic duo is just as likely to have an argument in the middle of a case as they are to work together. If you enjoyed one of these, I would suggest giving the other a try.
