At the prestigious Doumoto Music Academy, tragedy has struck: a bomb suddenly took the lives of two talented musicians as they practiced a piece. Soon after, Conan and the gang are invited to the opening concert of the school's new hall, and together they are able to hear the beautiful sounds of a Stradivarius violin. However, soon into their investigation of the murders, another explosion takes yet another life. Conan and his friends must get to the bottom of these mysterious murders and solve the case before more innocent lives are taken.
Hajime Kindaichi, grandson of the famous detective Kousuke Kindaichi, travels with his childhood friend Miyuki to Uta Island for a special performance of The Phantom of the Opera. However, once they arrive, the actors begin to be murdered in mysterious ways; who better than Kindaichi to solve this unsolvable crime? With the Phantom himself as a suspect, Kindaichi will need to use his strongest wits to track down the murderer, before more lives are taken.
Kindaichi can easily be compared to Conan; both characters solve the most difficult cases with ease. However, beyond the general recommendation, the Kindaichi movie and Conan movie 12 are both mysteries involving the fine arts and classical music. Liked one? Give the other a try.
Both movies are about detectives that must solve a murder mysters that involves preforming arts. Kindaichi is a tad more bloody than Conan but both are sure to please. You don't really need to have seen their series to enjoy these movies at all.
