Both Detective Academy Q and Spiral involve a young boy who solves things with his wits. Every obstacle that is presented to the main characters is solved, usually through some abnormal reasoning that is somewhat explained by the main characters being geniuses. Both of them also have a single main antagonistic force who is intent on destroying them, often by using extremely abstract means.

chavo18

Both series are detective stories, which present different cases that are interesting enough to make you formulate your own deductions in order to solve the cases at hand. Although the mood of the characters in Spiral is much more serious than Detective Academy Q. If you liked one, you'd definitely like the other.

Angevon

Both are mystery-based, with characters' pasts and secrets slowly and interestingly revealed. Spiral is more based on life-or-death situations that the main character must get out of, while Q has more mysteries involving solving strange murders. In both cases, I can almost guarantee that you'll not figure out the solution before they do~

KiraRin

Mystery and detective dramas have long been a genre I've not really made an effort to watch, but there are some that I have really enjoyed. Spiral and DAQ are 2 of those.

Both feature a super smart male protagonist and a cute and bubbly female sidekick. The constant guessing and playing along with the detective work is good fun, and the underlying stories are also interesting and make both shows a good watch.

If you enjoy one, you're sure to like the other.

In many ways, HunterXHunter and Detective Academy Q share the same core elements: a boy, raised by his mother alone, discovers the existence of a special place of learning where his unique skills can be honed to perfection, and sets out to enroll at that school, against his mother's will. Along the way, he meets other like-minded individuals with a wide range of special skills -- and together, the motley band undergoes numerous adventures, facing them with ingenuity and bravery. The animation styles are even fairly similar.

seasong

The main characters of both these animes are very similar. Not only are Gon and Kyu very similar in their pure love of life, Killua and Ryu have many parallels drawn between them in character and circumstances. If you liked the characters of one, you will enjoy the other anime as well.

Detective Academy Q and Ayatsuri Sakon follow characters using their deductive talent to catch murderers. Both anime show well-thought case over several episodes to find who is the killer.

neutrino

The protagonist in both of these series has an uncanny ability to run into murder mysteries.  Furthermore, they both are enigmatic about figuring out the "trick" to the solution, while their companions stand around dumbfounded.  If you have fun watching these kinds of series (as I do), I recommend both.

Both of these anime involve episodic mysteries, which the main character comes across inadvertently.  Often these murders and motives are kind of arbitrary, and the set-up is unrealistic (sealed-room murders, etc.), but if you like to figure out mysteries alongside the protagonist, both of these will satisfy.

KiraRin

Both DAQ and MTNN are fun detective dramas, and whilst Academy Q follows a more comedic root, Neuro has a definite dark side. Playing along and trying to guess the murderer is what keeps these shows fun, so if you enjoy one, you're sure to appreciate the other.
