A giant wall looms over Tokyo, shielding the city from a dangerous otherworld called the 'Hell's Gate'. These killers are compelled to pay a price every time they use their powers, often in the form of a meaningless or painful task. As their deadly habits rack up a gruesome death toll, Kirihara Misaki and her team from the Foreign Affairs Public Security struggle to solve the cases and bring the Contractors under control. Their task is further confounded by the interference of a masked individual they title Messier Code BK201, a man with abilities that allow him to fight and defeat the Contractors. Who is this BK201? How can the Contractors be stopped permanently? And what does the appearance of the Hell's Gate mean for the people of Tokyo?

Black Cat

Black Cat

An organization known to the dark side of the world as Chronos claims to desire world peace, employing the top thirteen assassins in the world known as 'Erasers.' They each have a weapon customized to fit their style, all made out of orichalcum ore, the strongest material available on Earth. Number 13, Train Heartnet (codenamed Black Cat) is the most famous and revered of the thirteen Chronos numbers, but in the light of a tragic event he has come to question his path in life. Together with Sven Vollfied, a struggling bounty hunter and a living weapon named Eve, Train takes up a job as a bounty hunter - all the while running from the other Erasers and Creed Diskenth, a crazed man whom wants him to join the Apostles of the Stars, a group made to destroy Chronos.

I believe if you enjoyed Black Cat, you would enjoy Darker than black(and vice versa), due to the same feeling of darkness in the begining of the anime, and ends with the main character becoming a somewhat better person.

If you like shady organizations controlling the government and economy of the world, you'll like both of these.  In BC, the organization is called Chronos, and it's more explicit than in DTB, but each have valuble members in the main characters.  In addition, both series have a blend of supernatural and scientific superpowered humans, and opposing organizations that try to change the world.

Though I can't say I particularily liked either of the series enough to universally recommmend, they might be worth checking out if they're your thing.

Both these anime are filled with action, thou DTB has more story to it, where as in DMC the different episodes are not as intertwined (story wise).

hamletsmage

Both anime are immersed in the supernatural and a male protagonist with wicked fighting skills. The protagonist also shows similarities to the things he fights against. With a team including a young girl and a middle-aged man who assigns jobs, the protagonist works as a mercenary.

For Kouta and Yuka, finding the bloody naked young girl on the beach would change their lives forever, for better or for worse. But what neither teenager knows is that this innocent young girl is actually a killing machine -- an experiment gone terribly wrong -- and it is only a matter of time before the murderer in her awakens again...

These series both have very gritty aspects to them, spending a large amount of time focusing on gory aspects. Also, these series have a sense of mystery to them, having main characters not truly realizing their own significance to the plot and piecing together the past.

KiyoneSaya

These two seemingly diffeent series deal with future with some form of evolution on the human population. Darker than black have contractors with mysterious powers while Elfen Lied showcases charcters with astral digits. These character have an internal struggle of succubming to their supposed loss of humanity.

Mushishi

Mushishi

It isn't unusual for a person to feel that the world around them is strange and has unexpected secrets lying just beyond their sight. However, for most people this is just an occasional sensation that greets them upon awakening or chases them into sleep. For the mushi researcher Ginko, it isn't a feeling at all; it is a knowledge which guides his travels and motivates his life. Found in the cracks between what is conceivable and what is not, are the varied life forms collectively known as mushi. They surround us and affect us, but their intensely different nature makes them unrecognizable to most. Ginko brings these life forms into perspective for the lives of those most affected and most in need of an explanation.

Iahel

The main characters in Darker Than Black and Mushishi are almost the same; both of them are spectators. BK201 is neither a human nor Contractor; he meets different people with different troubles caused by Contractors, just like Ginko with troubles caused by mushi.

UltimateShinobi

Both anime are episodic while darker than black has two episodes per arc Mushishi has one. Ginko from Mushishi has powers like Li and is also very eccentric.

In a nightmarish Earth, bugs (mushi) have begun to infect humans. Though not hurting their hosts initially, eventually the mushi devour the hosts' dreams, killing them in the process. Humans that are "lucky" enough to have their mushi killed ahead of time become emotionless and thoughtless zombies. In this uncertain time the Mushibune, infected humans who resist their persecution, are up against the Special Environment Preservation Agency, an organization hell-bent on destroying the mushi. Kakkou, SEPA's top agent, has been sent undercover to track down a high school student; but he didn't realize he'd meet and fall for the lovely Shiika instead...

Both series involve characters with strange abilities. The main characters in both anime lead a double life in order to not be discovered by anyone out of their group.

cotsiost

both animes have their own people with strange supernatural powers so if you liked one you will also like the other
