Synopsis:

A giant wall looms over Tokyo, shielding the city from a dangerous otherworld called the 'Hell's Gate'. Within the city, things are no less terrifying because Contractors, psychopathic killers with phenomenal powers, have started to appear. These killers are compelled to pay a price every time they use their powers, often in the form of a meaningless or painful task. As their deadly habits rack up a gruesome death toll, Kirihara Misaki and her team from the Foreign Affairs Public Security struggle to solve the cases and bring the Contractors under control. Their task is further confounded by the interference of a masked individual they title Messier Code BK201, a man with abilities that allow him to fight and defeat the Contractors. Who is this BK201? How can the Contractors be stopped permanently? And what does the appearance of the Hell's Gate mean for the people of Tokyo?

Both are very good animes in similar genres. They aren't tremendously alike as far as plot or characters go, but they're both really good.

Darker than Black and Tokyo Ravens both are supernatural. They have this unclear feeling through the anime, like something is kept a secret and a bit mysterious. Both get this feeling cleared in the end, in the super climax in the last ep where all the action takes place, and in the final 1/2 minutes they set up a new mystery "What happened after ? and did everything finish OK or did something got screwed up ?". That way both animes leave you guessing at the end xD

Both animes are made by Studio Bones and are about people getting super-human powers. And both animes are full of action and have great fights. If you like one you should watch the other.

In post-war Japan, the nation remains unsettled and crime is as big a problem as ever. Despite his sharp mind and keen deductions, "Defeated Detective" Shinjurou Yuuki frequently loses out to his rival, Rinroku Kaishou, whose information network has previously aided many police investigations. However, in spite of his poor reputation, Shinjurou continues to work on every case he's recruited to with his mysterious assistant Inga. With Inga's power to transform into a being capable of forcing any person to truthfully answer one question put to them, the pair uses everything at their disposal to get to the bottom of each crime and reveal the true culprit – even if the reality of who solved the case never reaches the public...

Vampire Knight

Vampire Knight

Cross Academy is a school with a difference: in a unique and experimental setup designed by the headmaster, it has a Day Class consisting of ordinary humans and a Night Class filled with vampires. Yuki Cross and her friend Zero Kiryu are school prefects whose job it is to make sure the secret of the Night Class is always safe; they patrol the school grounds at night and supervise the switchover of classes at dawn and dusk to prevent any 'accidents' from happening. While Zero is suspicious of vampires and hates the idea of sharing the same space as them, Yuki admires the Night Class for their beauty and sophistication; she is especially intrigued by their charming leader, Kaname, because he once saved her life. However, as Yuki quickly learns, not all vampires are amiable like the Night Class, and as terrible events unfold, Yuki must ask herself whether in a world where vampires are the hunters and humans are the prey, peaceful coexistence can really be achieved.

Both anime have almost identicale doses of a dark mysterious feel.  The cast of characters have almost an identicle level of character development as well.  They also both deal with the supernatural, although one is Vampires and the Other is Super Powers.  And they both seem like small plots that branch out to matter with something bigger.  They even had the same type of endings.  It is hard to put into words why, but the entire time I was watching one I was reminded strongly of the other.  I really think you enjoy one, you'll enjoy both.
