If you liked the Claymore anime, the Anime-Planet community thinks you'd like:
In a futuristic world almost barren of life, mankind is confined to mechanized domed cities where A.I.’s control all aspects of life. In this world, humans are no longer born, they are manufactured in a production line; and alongside them live androids known as autoreivs. Within one of these domed sanctuaries named Romdeau lives Re-l Mayer, one of a few citizens who aren’t entirely prevented from thinking. Her grandfather's prominent position and the affection of the scientist Daedalus have left her more free will than is normally allowed, but Re-l has started to question the sanctity of the city and the citizens' perfect way of life. With mysterious beings known as proxies causing havoc and a man named Vincent causing great influence on her life, Re-l must travel outside of the city to find the answers she seeks and discover the mystery behind "the awakening".
Hitomi was just a normal high school girl, until she was taken by the mysterious Van Fanel and dropped into a world of romance, magic and giant sword-wielding armor suits! Now Van, pilot of the famed armor suit Escaflowne; and Hitomi, whose hobby of predicting the future just became a frightening reality, must work together and fight the advanced technology of Zaibach: a force who want to shape Gaea to their visions of "peace". Follow Hitomi in her struggles against both these forces who seek to conquer this world, and her own confused heart.
In a time of great heroes, the evil Sephiroth and the power of Meteor were vanquished by a warrior named Cloud Strife and his companions. Now, though the life stream of the world has been restored, certain people have become sick with Geo Stigma -- an illness which is as mysterious as it is incurable. Meanwhile, in the shadows, a new enemy has appeared: Kadaj, who holds the key to the destruction of all life. Against insurmountable odds, Cloud, Tifa, Barrett, Cid and the rest of the gang must band together one last time to defeat Kadaj and save the world from annihilation.
Though they may be different but they are kind of same as well. Both series have blood, action, swordplay, and drama in a mature fantasy setting which is completely different. Main characters Cloud and Clare are similar due to the fact that they both went through a terrible past before having their powers passed on by their predecessor (Zack Fair and Teresa) that will lead them to fight their mortal enemy (Sephiroth and Priscilla) in the current story. Both stories go through a perilous journey aided by allies/companions alike to overcome any obstacles ahead of them before meeting the shocking conclusion. If you liked Final Fantasy, then you might like Claymore because Claymore too has the same atmostphere and feeling to that of FF. Either way both are great!
In the lush fantasy world of Earthsea, dragons and humans no longer live together as one due to the greed of humanity. It is in this world that the young Prince Arren lives – a young man who is dejected, tormented, and afraid of the ultimate goal of life: death. After killing his father and stealing an heirloom sword forged by magic, Arren sets forth with his trusty steed into the unknown countryside, experiencing the joys and darkness of mankind. Along with the powerful mage Sparrowhawk, an unlikely friend and his own personal angst, Arren must rediscover his desire to live while evil forces threaten his precious life's existence.
The worlds in both Earthsea and Claymore are full of magic, demons and bloodthirsty revenge and the stories also share some very similar plot lines. The beginnings of each begin with a lonely child who has lost their way in life due to acts of violence, and the introduction of a guiding figure who takes care of that child for at least part of the story. But very soon that child will realise that they have their own journey to undertake in order to become stronger and more respected, not just as a swordsman but as a person.
Both journeys will see the main characters pass through many varying landscapes - densely populated towns, open deserts and ancient ruins - and the variety and scale of the lands and creatures helps in immersing oneself into the story. As the stories unfold, limbs will be severed and demons will be confronted as the characters seek to discover exactly who, and what, they are.
After the event of Junius Seven crashing into Earth, wars and chaos have spread throughout humankind once again. Sven Cal Bayan, a 19 year old natural and a part of the special forces named "Phantom Pain", pilots the Strike Noir to destroy all coordinators. Selene McGriff, a researcher for the Deep Space survey and Development Organization, escapes from Earth and continues her project of Stargazer. Unknowingly, their destiny will cross and new battles will begin.
Both main characters are similar (Clare and Sven) as they became soldiers since childhood and went through inspiration and tragic pasts (the deaths of their parents) in different ways (Clare-Teresa and Sven-Science) and are part of the organization whose goal is to extinct races (Organization with Half Human Half Yoma against Yomas/Awakened Beings and Earth Alliance/BlueCosmos/Logos/Phantom Pain with Naturals and Extended/Biological CPUs against Plant/Zaft/Coordinators) and both would later betray them at the end. Sometime during the story, they form bonds with other beings (Clare-Raki and Sven-Selene) whom will change them forever. Both shows contain dark, suspense, seriousness, gore, and sword fighting. The only difference is that in Claymore, it involves demons, powers, and ancient weapons whereas Gundam Seed CE 73 Stargazer involves Mechas, space, ships, guns, and other mecha melee weapons and with no powers.
