Fumizuki Academy is divided into classes ranked based purely on ability; Class A has laptops, reclining seats and ultimate comfort whereas Class F has to settle for a rundown classroom with rotten cushions and rickety coffee tables. Akihisa Yoshii has recently taken the placement exam and finds himself relegated to the lowly Class F along with many of his friends, and they’re far from impressed with their draughty facilities. Luckily, not all is lost as at Fumizuki, classes can declare war on each other to swap rooms by fighting with summoned characters whose strength is based on the users' test scores. As they dream of escaping their decrepit circumstances, the ‘idiotic’ students of Class F will try whatever they can to reach the dizzy heights of Class A’s luxury, even if it means taking on the entire school in an all-out summoning war!
Maybe a weird rec, but I can explain it
Both stories take a little amount of time to let you know how the characters are. What is more interesting is how they do things and what happened to them in the past.
Clannad is the best in drama
Baka test to shoukanjuu in comedy
Both very original and the best of their kind(my opinion)
If you're 'done' watching the one, then you'd probably like to watch the other (too much drama or comedy isn't always good :P)
You'll never regret watching 1 of those.
Yesterday, Kyon was helping prepare for an SOS Brigade Christmas party. But today, he wakes up to a whole other world. Haruhi and the SOS Brigade are gone, Koizumi's class is missing, Asahina doesn't recognize him, Nagato is still a Literary Club member and even Ryoko Asakura has returned. As the only person who notices that everything has changed, Kyon is left to discover what happened to his friends and figure out if his life truly is better without aliens, time travelers and ESPers.
Without ruining the story, these two share a key element. Loss and loneliness. The stories themselves are quite different, but I found they evoke similar emotions.
They also both have AMAZING soundtracks that can break or lift your heart.
As I once saw, to put it succinctly, both of these animes "punch your heart in the face."
Since Clannad ~After Story~ is merely a continuation of the story in the anime adaptation, everything I said before about the first season still applies to After Story. However, it is within After Story of Clannad that the real potential of the series is brought to life. It will also be this way within the Refrain arc of Little Busters! later on within the series. Visual novel wise, both After Story and Refrain are continuations of the main heroine's stories (Nagisa in Clannad and Rin in Little Busters!) and they wrap up the plot of each series within a whole. Each have a stunning and beautiful ending.
Yamato Akitsuki has recently moved to Tokyo, and in order to maintain his less than wealthy lifestyle, he currently works at his aunt's bathhouse. While walking by the school one evening he sees a girl by the name of Suzuka practicing the high jump, and is instantly in love. Even better is the realization that Suzuka lives next door! Determined to prove himself worthy of her affections, Yamato decides to join the school's track team and show her what he’s got, but things won’t be so easy; for Suzuka has a love interest of her own, and it isn’t Yamato...
If you love Clannad/Clannad After Story you are sure to love Suzuka. I had been searching for months for an anime that could effect me the way Clannad did. And this is finally it!!!
I was sincerely moved by the ending of both these animes. They can both be categorized as romance, and slice of life, and they also deal with discovering your place in the world after transitioning out of highschool.
While Suzuka's drama is based more off a love-triangle situation, both have a beautiful love story and interesting twists that will keep your eyes glued to the screen. :) Please watch Suzuka! You won't be disappointed.
At Yamaboshi High, joining a school club is required, so when Himeko, Iori, Taichi, Yoshifumi and Yui couldn't find a suitable choice, they decided to create their own: the School Culture Club! Together, they pass the days meeting and coming up with topics for the group's newspaper – that is, until one day, Yoshifumi and Yui proclaim that they switched bodies last night! Soon after, all five members of the gang find themselves inadvertently swapping at random, with no end in sight. What, or who, caused this supernatural phenomenon?
Both of these shows show a group of friends as they learn more about each other, learn more about themselves, and learn how much they need each other's support as they go through various emotionally trying challenges. There is an element of the supernatural that is vital to each story, which helps give these shows a different feel from most school life animes. They have serious moments, humorous moments, and heart-wrenching moments, and if you liked one, you will definitely like the other.
