Carnificus Carnificus says...

Chuunibyou surrounds the lives of several teenagers who suffer from "8th grade syndrome". A condition that causes them to take on super powered personas, such as the Dark Flame Master. Unlike the characters of Chuunibyou, the cast of Hataraku Maou-Sama are super powered beings, cast from their realm and reduced to mere mortals. Both of these shows deal with very similar forms of comedy, and both also have a dramatic side to them.

Toradora!

Toradora!

Both animes involve a boy and a girl living close to each other, going to the same school, are part of a group of friends and a lot of comedy. They also develop feelings between the main characters the same way. If you liked one for that last reason, you will definitely enjoy the other too.

Hyou-ka: You Can't Escape

Hyou-ka: You Can't Escape

"If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I do have to do it, make it quick," is the basic principle by which energy conservationist Houtarou Oreki lives. But after his sister convinces him to join the Classics Club, Houtarou's life is turned upside down when he meets Chitanda, a perpetually-inquisitive girl who challenges the boy's easygoing existence. Intrigued by the slightest hint of a mystery afoot, Chitanda doesn't hesitate to pester the reluctant yet highly analytical Houtarou into satisfying her curiosity at every turn, no matter how small the problem. Alongside fellow members Satoshi and Ibara, the group tackles cases ranging from a self-locking classroom door, a strangely-popular library book, and even the shadowy history of the very club to which they belong!

at a glance, they're two different types of comedySLOF subgenres- one's a mystery and the other is slightly over edge hyper kinetic, yet both series have similar character designs -especially the eyes +Chitanda and Tsuyuri share the some of the same qualities

Kimi ni Todoke

Kimi ni Todoke

Sawako Kuronuma is just like any other high school girl who wants to make friends and be useful. The only problem is she bears a worrying resemblance to Sadako from 'The Ring!' Because of her reputation, people are not only terrified of her, but small dogs even bark in fear at her presence; in fact, the only person in school who will talk to her is the lively class hottie, Kazehaya. As the pair spends more time together, Kazehaya slowly begins to bring Sawako out of her shell and soon their feelings for each other develop further. Though with her crippling insecurities, lack of social skills, and a series of cruel rumors and misunderstandings, it seems that Sawako's dream of a normal life won’t be quite so easy to obtain.

They're both love stories with a deeper layer to it, because of the personalities of the people and the situation they are in.

The only reason why I thought of Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai! while watching Angel Beats! was the male lead. It might not seem like that much of an excuse to write a recommendation, but I believe that such characters are rare in shounen and seinen manga. It's difficult to describe what kind of characters they are, but if I were to try, I would say they know what is the right thing to do and they follow through. They are someone others can depend on. If you liked the male lead in one of those series, then be sure to check the other series too.
