In a post-apocalyptic world overrun with great beasts called Filth Monsters, a glimmering dome protrudes from the wasteland. This is Zuellni, a mobile city unique for having a consciousness in the form of ‘electronic fairies’. Moreover, Zuellni is an academy where the next generation of powerful Heavens-Blade wielders gather to pit their strength against each other in inter-platoon competitions. Nina Antalk, military student and leader of the 17th Platoon, is intent on recruiting only the best; thus, when mysterious Layfon Alseif transfers to the academy, she instantly recognizes his abilities and decides he’s the perfect candidate to join her group. However, with a secret past that won’t leave him alone, and unknown powers beyond the academy taking an interest in Zuellni, Layfon joining the team is only the start of all their troubles.
After being threatened by extinction at the hands of alien invaders called the Zentradi, humanity undertook the task of guaranteeing itself a future by launching fleets of colony ships into space. On Macross Frontier, one such fleet, high school student Saotome Alto's life is changed forever: the fleet is suddenly attacked by unidentified creatures while he is performing aerial stunts for a concert by the wildly popular idol Sheryl. Alto quickly finds himself in the cockpit of a new-model fighter struggling to protect Ranka Lee, a young girl he met only hours earlier, from the invaders' swath of destruction. Noting his performance during this incident, the S.M.S. Skull Squadron private military company invites Alto to join their organization, where he continues protecting his friends and Macross Frontier.
Macross Frontier and Chrome Shelled Regios involve controlled human environments where threatened communities are staked against harsh conditions and monster attacks. In both we have entire populations on the move. These anime follow soldiers while adding romance vibes to action packed plots. Without being groundbreaking in any way they are both sci-fi works in the same line.
When Akito Tenkawa went looking for answers about his parents' deaths, he had no idea that he'd be indoctrinated into the spaceship Nadesico not only as a cook, but also as a mecha pilot – a job he wants nothing to do with! Alongside his childhood friend Yurika, stoic Ruri, otaku Gai and other misfit crewmates, Akito and the Nadesico crew find themselves in the middle of a brutal war against both the dreaded Jovian Lizards, and the military itself, who wants the civilian ship under their control...
Two completely different decades spawned two very different shows with two very similar casts. The relationships and dynamics of the groups in each is what drives the shows forwards. I think if you enjoyed one show filled with action and the occasional laughs, you will love the other.
One thousand years after the Giant Warriors caused an apocalyptic event known as the seven days of fire, humans are living in constant fear of the Toxic Jungle. This ever-spreading forest is filled with poisonous plants and gigantic monstrous insects; even the very air is deadly. Nausicaa is the kind and wise princess of a small, peaceful country known as the Valley of the Wind, which has so far avoided the spread of the forest. One night a large airship containing one of the Giant Warriors crashes into the valley. The following day soldiers from the powerful nation of Tolmekia invade the Valley of the Wind to reclaim and revive the warrior. As the only one who truly believes that there is a way for humans to live alongside the insects, Nausicaa must find a way to stop the war that now threatens her people and protect the Toxic Jungle before the Tolmekians burn it to the ground.
Post-apocalyptic world with giant bugs trying to make the already hard life of the remaining people even harder. Even though Chrome Shelled Regios is a super power show, it's clearly obvious that it's roots came from the idea of Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind. Both protaginists have great determination and strength which allow them to accomplish astonishing feats.
Ai has always lived in the shadow of his brother Zero, one of the strongest psychics of this generation. After Ai's aura tests true and he is recommended to the Psychic Academy (where his first love Orina attends), he sets off to follow his path. Once arriving in this chaotic place, where people can fight using just the power of their auras, new friends (such as the well-endowed Myuu) are drawn to his side. As he is forced to fight against those who hate psychics and psychics alike, he is also faced with a difficult choice: the girl from his past, or his new fiery soulmate?
When I first saw the Kei powers in Chrome Shelled Regios it reminded me right away of the powers the charcters have in Psychic Academy. Although thats where the similarities end between the two. They are both have a similar feel of the powers if thats what you are looking for.
At the Magic Academy, students compete academically for magical stones. Classes and individuals who perform well are rewarded the stones, while those who are failing or involved with scandals have them taken away. Ruquia and her friends are in the Academy's lowest class. Their only hope is to make a comeback in the upcoming interclass group magic battle! Can this group of underachievers prove their worth?
Both anime are about a group of students that are going to school to learn how to harness their powers properly. Quiz Magic Academy is way more lighthearted and to the point where Regios takes its time with an actual plot and lots of wonderful developments. Check out one if you liked the other as they are very similar and tell good stories.
