Having failed to earn admission to a university, Hideki Motosuwa has moved to the big city, determined to study his hardest for next year's exams. However, an unusual distraction presents itself one unsuspecting day in the form of Chii, a robotic young girl that has been discarded in the trash. In a world where an increasing number of people turn to these 'persocoms' for company, the bonds and limits of human relationships are tested as flesh manages to fall in love with the machine itself...
In the not-so-distant future, mankind is at war with itself. The lives of Chise and Shuu are torn apart when Chise is chosen to become the ultimate weapon to fight for Japan against their enemies. Death, sadness, and the hardships of love accompany Sai Kano in its grim look at war and its consequences.
If you liked either Chobits or Saikano, I am sure you'd like the other. Both of them start out with a boy who finds a girl, have romance-based plots, and have "different" girls: in Chobits she is a robot, and in Saikano she is a weapon.
The god Mauser delivered unto a world of magic a prophecy: if the Scrapped Princess is allowed to live, she will destroy the entire world. But the knight who was to kill her could not end the life of a newborn child, and so she lived. Fifteen years later, her adopted brother and sister have sworn to protect her, and together they travel from town to town, searching for a life she can't have.
Twelve years ago, an incident known as "Blast Fall" unleashed major destruction and chaos. Now, years have passed, and mankind has learned to adapt by incorporating cybernetic limbs into its citizens. Roy Revent is a bounty hunter known for his violent acts towards criminals due to the loss of his daughter in Blast Fall; and when a criminal tries to take revenge on Roy, an unknown girl falls from the sky and saves him. She has no memory of who she is, or where she came from. With the help of Miranda, his boss and landlord, he takes in the girl and gives her a name of Solty. What is the real identity of Solty, and what caused Blast Fall?
If you enjoyed Chobits then you will most likely enjoy Solty Rei, however there is a bit more action in Solty Rei but both involve an android girl who has lost her memory who ends up having a very large purpose. Chobits is a bit more slow paced than Solty.
It was just a juvenile search for adventure that brought young mystic Nakahito face to face with the android mega-weapon, Kurumi. With just a kiss, she is activated and answers only to him. Now they embark on a comedic journey that will carry them across Japan to discover the secrets of the Steel Angels and how such technology has come to exist before the advent of television. In their travels they will encounter spies, army agents and rogue Steel Angels but the real discoveries lie in the heart of a young teen and the miracle he has awakened with a kiss.
Both animes have a very similar storyline - A guy down on his life/luck finds a cute android girl and things suddenly look up. Steel Angel Kurumi has more ecchi and is more comedy/romance based rather than having a solid storyline, but both storylines have to do with discovering the girls' origins and their inner natures. The only difference is that Kurumi (the "Chii" of Steel Angel Kurumi) is awakened smart and fully knowledgable of everything, unlike Chii in Chobits, waking up to only know basic body movements/functions and the word "Chi".
