Ryo Saeba and Kaori Makumura are private detectives who make up the City Hunter team -- problem solvers who can be hired by writing 'xyz' in a certain train station. Ryo's uncanny accuracy with a gun is surpassed only by his lecherous tendencies, while Kaori provides the sideline support -- usually in the form of a 50,000 kg mallet to keep Ryo's ecchiness under control!
City Hunter and Cat's Eye have very similar ambiances and graphical styles. Both feature a good dose of humor and cool action situations, are based on similar ways of building up the tension, and make you wonder each time how the characters are going to set themselves free of the booby traps they step into.
Both have similar styles, are from the same manga artist ad even feature a cross over episode. They are also both reliant on comedic situations and are episodic so you can view them both out of sequence and still enjoy the show.

Saint Tail has a similar thieving theme, is episodic - so one is able to catch it sparingly, much like Cat's Eye. The heroine in both is also romantically involved with the detective trying to catch them.

Cat's Eye & Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne
Both animes are about thieves who steal special things - but that's all. (Actually... Jeanne is more like Sailor Moon). But people who would like to see a story about stealing things for special reason could like both animes.
