In a futuristic Earth, robots have been constructed to help mankind and preserve the planet – but their plans went terribly, terribly wrong. Led by the android designated BK-1 – more commonly known as The Black King – these robots have since taken over the world and enslaved mankind, believing that destroying humanity is the only way to save the planet. Thankfully, there is hope: Tetsuya, the son of BK-1's creator, has given up his humanity to become the cyborg Casshan; with the help of his robotic dog Friender and his once-girlfriend Luna, Casshan will fight to clear his father’s name and put a stop to the robots’ murderous rampage.
Beginning four years after the one year war, 0083 starts with the arrival of two new Gundam units to be used for gravity testing. Things take a turn for the worse when members of Zeon steal Unit 2 and the nuclear warhead it that it has been armed with. Young test pilot-in-training Kou Uraki, piloting Gundam Unit 1, must now capture the stolen Gundam before it can be used to fulfill Zeon's mysterious "Operation Stardust".
Casshan: Robot Hunter is an OVA which tries to update a kitschy Saturday morning cartoon from the 1970s to a dark, serious tale of war.
Gundam 0083 tries to do the same thing only it actually works. The latter features interesting characters, a mostly compelling plot, and spectacular OVA animation - things that Casshan frankly has a dearth of.
Thousands of years in the future, the world is overrun by demons and vampire lords. Doris, a young girl, has become the target of the great vampire lord Count Magnus Lee, who wants her as his plaything. After being bitten by the Count, she seeks the help of D, an elite vampire hunter, who decides he must venture out to slay the Count and his demon underlings to save this girl in despair.
Neither of these are good; but they're both rather dull and forgettable but also dark and silly OVAs with also some gratuituous nudity from a blonde girl. Bizarrely enough they both also feature some rather mediocre adaptions of Yoshitaka Amano artwork.
