The Familiar of Zero

The Familiar of Zero

In a world where magic is a reality, the young Louise is at the bottom of her class. Dubbed "Zero" by her classmates at Tristein Academy (due to her zero success rate for magic), Louise (along with all first year students) was charged with summoning a familiar; and instead of a cute magical creature, the familiar arrived in the form of... Saito Hiraga, a normal Japanese boy who was abruptly teleported from his own world?! Can both Louise and Saito come to terms with their new and complicated "relationship" and (more importantly) help Saito find a way home?

Both Card Captor Sakura and Zero no Tsukaima have magic heavily involved with multiple, good characters. Both Louise and Sakura manage to mess things up on occasion, but are fairly determined to get it done well. The male leads are also both supportive and strong. They also both contain light hearted humour, and are great watches. If you liked one, you may just like the other.

Both Howl's Moving Castle and Cardcaptor Sakura are about a young and fairly normal girl who finds herself suddenly caught up in the unbelievable world of magic. Both stories focus on the magic, the girl's struggles to cope, and the love that inevitably blooms from it all.

The drawing style of CCS and Kokoro Library is very similar, as is their palette of character types. Also, the maybe-not-entirely-platonic Iina -> Kokoro and Tomoyo -> Sakura relationships with their focus on photography/videography are almost identical.

Utakata

Utakata

On the day before summer vacation, Ichika discovered an old mirror in an old school building. From within it, the mysterious Manatsu looked out and offered to trade favors: if Ichika will do her "homework" (experience the power of the spiritual life forces and write about her feelings) then she will return the charm that Ichika has lost. As Ichika struggles to absorb the raw power of nature, those who watch from the other side of the mirror eagerly await her decision at the end of trials. Can a 14 year old take on the sins of the world and mend the rifts between nature and humanity?

Uta Kata and CardCaptor Sakura are surprisingly similar in their ideas - both rely on the exploration of magic to tell their themes. While CCS pulls this off in a more interesting way, the lack of "villain of the week" in Uta Kata makes it an equally refreshing watch. Also, if you like costume changes, these two have them by the bucketload!

Both of these great anime are both made by CLAMP. Their beautiful drawing and characters are very similar in style. They both follow great storylines and have magical situations. Pdersonally I enjoyed both of them and I think you will too.

Magical Pokan

Magical Pokan

Liru the werewolf, Pachira the vampire, Aiko the android and Uma the witch have just moved to Tokyo, but they are terribly inexperienced with everyday life. The littlest things like sunlight plagues Pachira's existence, Uma's magic never quite goes as planned, Aiko finds her huge android weight embarrassing and Liru's obsession with food creates endless problems. Despite this, the girls still have a blast exploring the life of a human. From the Tanabata festival to browsing TV shopping channels, from donating blood to figuring out the postal system, the girls always manage to have a good time.

Umi in Magical Pokan is a parody of Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura. It doesn't take much effort to see the blatant copied elements, from her magic baton, to the astrological magic circles that appear when either uses magic, both are directly copied--even the attention to changing her costume when using her magic. Umi even does a magic show that has cards as part of the act--and her pets are two magic rabbit like creatures, which look awfully similar to the Black and White Monokas that appear in another Clamp series (that also has Sakura in it), Tsubasa Chronicles. It just doesn't stop there, though, how Umi acts is often like Sakura, from being overly cute and walking the line between earnest and obnoxious to the very chibi-like expressionists and red dot under her eye, denoting her youth. All that being said, you need a fairly open minded sense of humor to accept Magical Poken because it can be rather---ecchi at times. But if you are alright with parody, even parody that would be considered distasteful to some, then I strongly suggest checking out both series

Puni Puni Poemy

Puni Puni Poemy

Puni Puni Poemi is a spin-off of Excel Saga, the classic lampoon of all that is anime. It takes the daughter of two Excel Saga characters and puts her through parodies of shoujo, shounen, ecchi, hentai, and everything in-between. This eccentric show is the "Scary Movie" of anime: younger viewers need not apply.

PPP is a really well done parody of CCS and a few diffrent anime. It is worth watching after finishing CCS, you won’t stop laughing. The main heroine are grade school kids blessed with super powers. Although CCS is well, in all age category and PPP is in 18+ category I really can’t imagine not watching it all. Just treat PPP as an OVA and you will have great time viewing both anime
