In the present day, terrorism is on the rise and the Ua Virus – a biological agent with a 100% kill rate – has been unleashed into the populace. In Shanghai, Canaan is a near-unstoppable soldier who roams the streets, always in the path of a bullet. She is a Synesthetist – a person able to use all five senses at once – who harbors a burning desire for revenge and has a past shrouded in mystery. While the Ua Virus infects more people in the city, others cross paths with Canaan including Minoru, a freelance journalist; Maria, Canaan’s close friend who was infected with the Ua Virus and lost her memory of the incident; and The Snakes, a shady and violent group with mysterious motives. Danger lies at every turn for Canaan and ultimately the rest of mankind…

A young man awakens in an abandoned warehouse with no memory of his past. As he leaves the room and ventures further into the warehouse he is attacked by a girl in a mask; she tells him that in order to live he must come at her with all his might. After a fight for his life, he manages to overpower the girl, learning that he is to be trained as a Phantom - an assassin for the Inferno organization. He is also given a new name: Zwei. For three months, Zwei is trained by the girl in the arts of assassination until he has just one final test: to kill a living human being.
The heroines in Canaan and Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ are both girls that can kick some serious ass! The animation and fighting scenes in each are fantastic. While Canaan is more fantasy based, the two series are really similar in feel.
It’s been some time since Raccoon City, the origin of the T-Virus outbreak, was wiped off the map by the military. Umbrella Corporation’s stock plummeted and a new pharmaceutical company called WilPharma has risen in its place; however, unlike its predecessor, WilPharma is working on a vaccine for the illness that turns humans into bloodthirsty zombies. Claire Redfield has just landed in WilPharma’s town to visit a friend when she finds herself in the center of a zombie-filled bloodbath. Leon Kennedy and members of the Special Response Team are called in to save Claire and the other survivors from the airport, saving an important member of WilPharma in the process. What has caused this new recurrance of the T-Virus? Claire and Leon must get to the bottom of things before nefarious foes are able to carry out their plans...
Both anime involve viruses that attack humans and it's up to the lead characters to try and stop it from spreading more throughout the population. Both have a great amount of action that will leave you wanting to see more and more. The animation in RE is all CG where canaan is the normal animation type you see in anime but very detailed and lovely. Check one out if you liked the other.
Amidst the turbulent revolution of 2025 wrought by the GGP government, Rin Ogata only dreams of becoming a ballerina; like her mother before her, Rin’s grace and agility mean she’s destined for success on the stage. However, an injury and the untimely death of her parents quickly shatter her aspirations and, for once, Rin’s existence seems purposeless. That is, until she enters the garage of a club one day and sits astride a RideBack! The RideBack, a motorcycle with arms and the ability to stand upright, offers Rin a new world of boundless movement! What she doesn’t realize, however, is that this club of RideBack enthusiasts is about to get dragged into the bloody war between the GGP and the terrorists intent on overthrowing them. Life may be more exciting now, but it’s also become very dangerous: will Rin’s natural talents as a pilot be enough in a world where racing is not just for glory, but for survival?
Both Canaan and RideBack focus on a female protagonist who begins the story as a somewhat naive individual, but who matures over the course of the story into a mature, determined young woman. Both series are serious in tone, and have quite dark moments, featuring as they do a corrupt government system that is abusing the people under its care. In short, if you enjoyed the one, with its action and strong characters and excellent animation, you'll surely enjoy the other!
In the feudal kingdom of Yogo, a dark secret is threatening its proud imperial family, and the Emperor intends to destroy it before it leaks out. Unfortunately this dark secret resides within his son, the young and innocent Second Prince Chagum. Enter Balsa, a wandering warrior who has sworn to save eight lives in penance for those she has taken during her violent career. Upon accepting her role as protector to Chagum, her eighth and final job, the two begin a perilous journey that tests not only their physical endurance and mental resolve, but also the tentative relationship they build along the way. Will Balsa fulfill her penance and protect Chagum as he seeks to understand the nature of his secret? Or will the Emperor's relentless assassins and other powerful enemies get them first?
Canaan and Seirei no Moribito both shine as examples of great animation. Both have amazing attention to detail in both the background animation and amazing coreography. Both shows suck you into the story with the beautiful animation to the point you could almost swear you were there.
Ten years have passed since the demise of the bubble economy, a time that polarized the world into two groups of people: the rich and the poor. In the present day, Saiga Tatsumi (a former war photographer) has been hired to investigate a secret club for the rich named the Roppongi Club, but he soon discovers secrets much darker than he’d ever imagined. With the help of a exploited goddess named Kagura, Saiga now possesses the power to kill by simply taking a photograph; but can he stay alive long enough to save her from her captors?
Violent and dark characters fill the atmosphere in both of these anime. Twisted plots that hit you out of no where come about and leave you wanting to watch episode after episode till finished. Amazing character development throughout each series occures as well. Even the animation is very similar. Check one out if you liked the other
