Synopsis:

In the future, Tokyo has fallen victim to syndicates, trigger-happy people who run rampant and other groups who don't like to follow the rules. In response, an organization called RAPT has been created, whose goal is to maintain their definition of "peace". In the underground, however, science involving humans and powerful mechanics is progressing at a steady phase, but for what purpose? Meet our four angels who know how to kick butt and raise hell whenever it's needed. Their motto? Shoot first, talk later. Their mission? To make the seemingly impossible possible, of course...

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

In 2010, the Britannian Empire enslaved Japan using powerful mecha known as Knightmares; in the aftermath Japan was renamed Area 11, and its people began a hard and terrible existence. Lelouch, a Britannian student living in Area 11, has grown up hating the Empire and everything it stands for. One day, in the middle of a terrorist attack, Lelouch meets a mysterious girl who grants him the ability to control minds. Can he use his new power to fight for freedom, or will his hatred twist his good intentions into mindless acts of vengeance?

These two shows are very different, and yet watching Bakurestu kept reminding me of Geass. Lelouch's rebellion reminded me of the rogue bounty hunters in BT, and the excellent use of mech to defeat enemies.

Both are very political, and use violence as an ends to a mean, which means the viewer is certainly in for an exciting ride with both.

Dirty Pair

Dirty Pair

The WWWA, or 3WA as it is affectionately known, is dedicated to one thing: The prosperity and well being of all the peoples of the Galactic League. The Dirty Pair are Kei and Yuri, the 3WA's top crime division female operatives with a 100% clean-up rate. The problem lies in the extreme collateral damage they cause to people and property in the single minded pursuit of their duty; including, if absolutely necessary, the wholesale destruction of cities, continents and even planets! No-one is safe, whether it be criminals, rogue robots, crazed computers and more likely, innocent bystanders!

MalteseFalcon

I can't help but be reminded of Dirty Pair while watching Burst Angel. Female protagonists that are assigned various jobs, with said jobs ending up being more complex than initially expected, followed by mayhem and destruction? That describes both of these series to a T. If you enjoyed one of them, I am sure you will enjoy the other.

Dirty Pair Flash

Dirty Pair Flash

Dirty Pair Flash is a rather explosive look at the futuristic antics of two "troubleshooters": Yuri and Kei, agents for a galactic organization that intends to reduce catastrophy and solve intergalactic crime. Unfortunately, any crime that is solved usually involves mass destruction, as the "Lovely Angels" use everything from large scale explosives to pure brute force to get the job done.

Elfen Lied

Elfen Lied

For Kouta and Yuka, finding the bloody naked young girl on the beach would change their lives forever, for better or for worse. Unable to speak or function as a normal human being, she is named Nyu by the duo, and taken into their home in an effort to save her. But what neither teenager knows is that this innocent young girl is actually a killing machine -- an experiment gone terribly wrong -- and it is only a matter of time before the murderer in her awakens again...

DuskFey

The main characters of Elfen Lied and Burst Angel are both strong women with powers and dark pasts. Lucy and Jo have both dealt with traumatic events before, and though they're trying to find a place to belong, neither of them can truly escape from the fighting.

In a time of great heroes, the evil Sephiroth and the power of Meteor were vanquished by a warrior named Cloud Strife and his companions. The animation in both FFVII and Bakuretsu Tenshi is quite similar. Both have nice fighting scenes which seem to have their origin in 3D animation rather than "simple" hand-drawn art. Along with these computer-animated scenes comes a decent plot that doesn't run too deep. These two feel very similar to each other.
