Naota Nanbada is a boring young boy who leads a boring life in a boring town. His older brother has left for America, and the closest he comes to any excitement is when his deadbeat dad has too much sake. But things change one day when a bizarre girl zooms up to him on a scooter and smacks him in the face with her guitar. What's more, once Naoto returns home he discovers that this strange woman has arrived ahead of him and moved in! Not only does she constantly engage in perverted activities with Naota's father and flirt with the young man himself, but she also claims to be an alien who is searching for the ‘Pirate King.' Now, Naota must learn to live with this new intruder, deal with an odd government agent who sports exceptionally large eyebrows and the mysterious Medical Mechanica, and come to terms with the fact that there are a variety of robots and weapons emerging out of his head - amongst other things. Perhaps boring wasn't so bad after all...

Wow, where do I start? Maimimi and Nanami have similar designs. Both have great music. Maimimi is loud and to the point where Nanami is quiet, but to the point. Both do some-what dumb things, but turn around and say highly intellectual and inspiring phrases without even knowing it.

The music, the drawing and the scenes are similar in the way they let the audience to subside in emotions. Both series let you feel something inside, something that has to do with love.

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

Yuichi is a teenage boy who was diagnosed with hepatitis; and as staying at the hospital is boring, he often sneaks out at night to hang out with his friends. However, each time he is caught by the slightly sadistic nurse Akiko, he just prolongs his stay at the hospital. After his most recent escape, instead of striking a punch or kick at Yuichi, Akiko says that she'll overlook his sneak outs if he becomes friends with 17-year-old Rika, another hospital resident. Rika doesn't open up to him at first, but she has her reasons: she has a weak heart; and though she may come off as selfish and rude, Yuichi looks beyond the surface to help both of them enjoy what life has to offer.

These are both serious and dramatic romance stories that have a sort of "coming of age" feel to them. Bokura ga Ita is more of a high school drama where as Hanbun is more secluded from side characters, but I think if you liked one you should definitely give the other a try.

Hatsukoi Limited

Hatsukoi Limited

Ayumi, Kei, Koyoi, Rika and Nao are five middle school friends whose hot topic of conversation is, as always, love. Ayumi dreams of having a boy confess to her and can't understand the idea that receiving unwanted confessions can be troublesome. She even believes that she will happily accept any guy who approaches her - that is, until she receives a love letter from Misao, a large, delinquent high school boy whose very presence makes small children cry! Not wanting to date him but too scared to reject him, Ayumi has no idea what to do, especially when Misao, now nicknamed Beast-kun by the girls, begins following her to and from school. To make matters worse, Ayumi then falls for Mamoru, a boy in her class who is Beast-kun's brother! With plenty of experiences in life and love left ahead, will the girls retain their naive beliefs, or is it time to shake off that brother complex and realize that appearances aren't everything?

Hatsukoi Limited and Bokura ga Ita are about first loves and generally have a light feeling to them, although both shows get a bit heavier around the end. If you enjoyed the high-school romance factor and the way both shows go slightly into the psyche of the characters, you'll enjoy the other as well!

Both Honey and Clover II and Bokura ga Ita feature sweet, slow-paced, relationship-centered stories that are surely to melt one's heart. Both series also feature top-notch soundtracks and are sure to absorb the viewer into the characters that are hard not to love.
